    i am VM in Ghana and i have noticed many things about zidisha organization and i am very concern about it, so that the director Julia and her team will find the way out to make sure that zidisha organization will not collapse and can sustain for long years and can compete with other organization.i have observe that the rate of borrowers have been increased more than the lenders for that matter funding has become and major challenges for zidisha team to handle and also there are many defaulters who have not pay their loans which has cause a lot of damage to zidisha finances.i wish to take this opportunity to suggest to the director and her team that the on time payment bonus that given to borrower should withdraw because of the financial challenges that confronted zidisha organization now.i also suggest that the borrower should allow to select their own volunteer mentors than rotating automatically my the system which do not helping the the volunteer mentor to monitor browsers who have defaulted because some borrowers live long distance about 120km journey when that borrower default the VM find difficult to chance or get in touch him or her .sometime the default borrower mobile phone will be off and for that matter the VM will not able to contact that borrower to retrieve that money to zidisha.It is high time the zidisha team should let the borrowers to select their our VM so that before the volunteer mentor will recommended the borrower to zidisha team for approval, the VM will know and trusted and can contact him or her personally before the loan is given to the borrower and that will reduce the default of borrowers.If this measures is put in place i hope it will help the zidisha organization to improve but not collapse.i am so suggest that the zidisha team should create special email for volunteer mentors and zidisha team alone so that challenges and suggestion can be sent to zidisha for them to know what is happening to their borrowers.As at now some borrowers are complaining of declined their loan and such borrowers are guinea borrowers and zidisha team has came out that they have solved the technical error but still not resolve but affecting some of borrowers and i suggest to zidisha technical team to check and resolve these errors in their system to make zidisha more attractive for borrowers.i hope to hear from Director and her team.Thank you

    This is what I know from my experience and my friends in Indonesia, Zidisha providing 2 name of VM that are near the area of the new borrower until 2016. And after that, zidisha is the one who choose the VM for the borrower. I Think there were information about it on the old VM forum.

    This technical error about declined account effecting all borrower. Will you please help zidisha by asking anyone who thinks their account declined by technical error to make a support ticket so zidisha can review it. Go to help page and choose technical error and no, I'd like to ask help. Please ask them provide their ID pic so zidisha staff review their account. Please be patient, support ticket answered within 3-5 business day.

    I agree there should be other line for VM for fast response from zidisha, but for now support ticket is borrowers place to communicate with zidisha about their account or any suggestion for zidisha to better beside this forum.

      Isn’t this not correct anymore? It’s shown on the page where a borrower can find more info about becoming a volunteer mentor.

      I think that information need to be updated. Back then the option for choosing VM appear when the borrower applying their first loan. The option came again when the VM become late and their role as VM has stopped.
      As for now Zidisha is the one who put the member to the VM whose still have quota to take mentee

    @ Fitri Fauziyah Machmud, if that used to be the case in the past, my question now is, what really brought about the change. Have there been any form of announcement in the past in respect of the change?

    But come to think of it, I know the current system of assigning a mentee to VM is really posing a major problem to some of us and even Zidisha. One major problem associated with this current system is the distance issue as already explained by my friend Peter Adinkrah. Lack of proper monitoring of loan by VM leading to high default rate could be link to the fact that 90% of VM don't have a close contact with their mentees. What kind of proper assessment do you expect a VM to do when the distance between his / her assigned mentee is as far as 200km journey. Sometimes, mentees with no single reference are even assigned to VM and still VM needs to assess whether Zidisha should accept that application or not; in a generation where internet fraud is alarming. So from all indication, one could say the current system of assigning mentees to VM is bad and needs to be change.

    But I am very sure that there are reasons behind Zidisha changing the old system of assigning mentees to VM. Was it not on this same platform that Julie did announced to us that one VM had been suspended for taking money from mentees for services provided? Was it also not on this same platform that some mentees also complained of VM charging them an amount money for services provided to them? You see! Our (VM) own ATTITUDE could be a contributing factor to the change of assigning mentees to VM. Until we change our attitude, nothing positive could be achieve. Laws are made by human beings and are subject to amendment if a change of the law will have a positive impact on the people. Therefore, let first of all change our attitude as VM and mentees (especially those who have been providing false information) and then call for the change that we want and I know management will surely hear our voice.
