AfricaLeap

http://africaleap.com

AfricaLeap seeks to help rural communities leapfrog over the old technologies of the twentieth century and land in the renewable clean energy of the twenty first. New technologies offer rapid development of clean energy sources without "addiction" to expensive fuel or reliance on centralized infrastructure. Zero emission energy for families and villages decreases reliance on wood, charcoal and costly fossil fuels such as kerosene while reducing health risks from smoke. We support local entrepreneurs who can quickly serve off-grid customers with cleantech solutions such as solar cookers, solar panels and wind generators as well as energy efficiency devices.

I recommend reading the full post from Francis Mbewe, Jul 30, 2018.
    www.zidisha.org/loan/scalin...
    Here is a highlight:
"This July i had an opportunity of been part of 200 young Africans who met 44th President of the USA, Barack Obama and my dreams of creating opportunities for women and girls in remote villages was renewed! It was a life changing conference with a call for all of us to do our part in creating the Africa we all want to see! "
btw, you may also want to see some of the videos, including Obama’s and, if you look carefully at the “Leaders: Africa Ethical Leadership in Africa” video at:
    www.obama.org/africa/#watch
you will see Francis with the Zambia contingency in some of the quick audience shots, right there in the front row.

Zidisha is discontinuing the Lending Groups feature in order to shift focus to the Forums. I hope you will continue your helpful AfricaLeap conversation at the Open Forum thread: Leapfrog Technologies. Thank you to all contributors and readers, especially to Treesforpeople and Emma! africaleap.com

Hello AfricaLeapers! This looks promising to me; solar panels, batteries and other modernization for Moses' farms.

Thanks Tom - good to hear from you. Unfortunately I'm trying not to support the meat industry - it's a shame as I want to support businesses installing solar panels! Ethics is complicated!

    Hi Folls,
I just noticed a promising application from Joyce Gicheru
    Utawala,embakasi, Kenya
concerning solar in rural to displace kerosene and to charge phones.

    • Emma     Apr 20, 2018

Agreed, her current loan proposal sounds good: www.zidisha.org/loan/buy-so...

But unfortunately not for me, because of the beauty/new clothes/accessories shop... I'm very tempted though, I still hope her current loan gets funded :-)

      All the best, Em.

    • Treesforpeople     Apr 20, 2018

Thanks Tom, I've lent to her.

YES! A business planting ... trees for people ... ! I wonder, who is the customer for this valuable work? Is it carbon credits or other funds?

The solar pump for Kennedy's school loan looks more likely to reach its target this time. Still $200 needed, and only 4 days left. www.zidisha.org/loan/solar-...

Obed is doing solar heating and other equipment installation aligning with his technical degrees and interests and employing a team of workers. A nice step up (imho) from his retail business.

I notice Erastus said he accidentally cancelled his loan. Fingers crossed he gets funded this time!

Thanks Trees & Tom :-) Most loans seem to be getting funded again which is really good to see :-) But there are still more than usual getting expired...

For example, Erastus' loan you linked below Trees... But I noticed you already saw his new one Tom. Here it is for anyone else: api.zidisha.org/loan/solar-...

Hope you're all well :-) Emma.

I am so glad Albin & Charles finally got funded, & Erastus has applied again to try get his loan funded this time :-) Hopefully Kennedy, Florence & Steven do the same for their expired loans. Poor Florence has had 3 attempts, with the last couple only being a $33 loan request, really hope she tries again, I've got $33 I could send her now if her loan was still current :-( Finally, I missed Rosemary, but again, really glad she got funded & am following for next time.

Also WELCOME STEPHANIE :-) :-) So great to have another lovely person contributing to the group. Thanks for your contributions already, so interesting hearing things from the viewpoint of a fellow lender on the ground in Kenya :-)

    Hope you're all well, Emma.

EDIT: Kennedy reposted his loan: www.zidisha.org/loan/loan-t...
Steven also reposted his loan: www.zidisha.org/loan/stock-...
Ronald posted his driplines loan again: www.zidisha.org/loan/purcha...
