PLEASE join Zidisha's new forum and participate. Randy Peterson donated the software (current version of what milepoint uses) and he and his staff helped set it up. It is at www.zidisha.org/forum/ or just click on member forum at the top of this page. There are forums to discuss matters of interest related to Zidisha and a Z-lounge for off-topic discussions. Your wisdom and good natured humor will add much to the forums.

Looks like we're about to cross the 200k threshold!

    Total Group Impact: USD 199,498.74

  • KyRoamer     May 5, 2013

And congratulations to this group for its role in Zidisha's achievement. Our team is now over $173,000. That is impressive considering what a small group we are. Tell your friends about Zidisha and ask them to join it and to join our team.

Welcome rebdhen from Louisville. I too am from Louisville. Come visit me on milepoint where I post as KyRoamer.

Hope you're a Louisville basketball fan. If so, the last couple of weeks have been exciting. The ladies play tonight and that is going to be one tough game. The men have a good shot at the title although without Ware its going to be a rough game.

A belated thank you for the welcome. A friend of mine encouraged I join this team. Not a huge lender, but do what I can. All the best!

Stephen needs $107.50 by April 8. Check him out at www.zidisha.org/microfinanc... and help fund his loan.

A big welcome to RRoman212. Thank you for joining our team.

To continue to grow and maximize our impact we need to add to our member base. All too often I see a deserving loan expire unfunded. More members and more dollars invested would help prevent this.

Where we can not save everyone in need, those we help become self sufficient then help others including their families, suppliers and customers. The true impact of a $25 loan is hard to measure but I'll bet that money circulates mostly locally many times.

    Lets get to $200,000 soon.

    Randy posted

Greetings team members and here's the results:

There were 50 members of the team at close of the contest. I deleted myself and added all the members submitted to me from Team Captain KyRoamer into a spreadsheet which assigned a numeric number to each team member (equally 49 since i omitted myself). I then used the handy random.com to have it choose two random numbers between 1 and 49. The two winners of the iPad mini on behalf of the Zidisha Lending Team are mtlfire (39) and TravelBear (19).

My congrats to both and a big thank you to Randy..

Sammy is all set. I see a few are ending tomorrow and the next day, most with rather small amounts remaining so it wouldn't take much. I pushed one over the top and could use some help on the following:

    April 1

    April 2

    • KyRoamer     Mar 31, 2013

I loaned $25 to each. But they still need a bit more help.

  • RandyPetersen1     Mar 31, 2013

Great news and looking forward to knowing who will be able to make their next Zidisha loan on an iPad mini.

  • KyRoamer     Mar 31, 2013

Save Sammy. He needs $103 today.

  • KyRoamer     Mar 31, 2013

Today is the last day for people to join our team, make a loan and be eligible to win an iPad Mini. There are now 46 of us and our Zidisha impact is $154,457.50. We are the number one team here at Zidisha. Let's push for $200,000 by Kentucky Derby time, May 4.

Hannah still needs $292. Join Randy, pentatonicscale and me in funding this loan.

    • pentatonicscale     Mar 29, 2013

Thanks for all the help. Fully funded in 3 days for a thousand dollar loan, is that a record?

  • pentatonicscale     Mar 26, 2013

I would like help filling Hannah Waithira's loan. She is a third-time borrower whose loan was suddenly taken down in January because of the change in rules. She lost a business opportunity because of that. She is a widow with 5 children, and she is essentially a real-estate agent who buys and sells shambas. She has been through a lot emotionally with Zidisha as well as losing one really good sale. (You can read about it in the comments on her loan.) I would love to see her large loan filled as soon as possible by the Zidisha community so she can regain faith in us.

    • pentatonicscale     Mar 26, 2013

Thanks, RandyPetersen1, for joining the loan. Somehow your comment on the loan page showed up 7 times-- you might want to delete a few of them :D

Is anyone here besides Rotterdammer and me able to help translate some of the French into English? I have started with the "Expiring Soon" sort and am trying at least to get the loan descriptions into English, because more people lend when they see English than French. With 95 loans on the site, anything anyone can do to help would be great. (This is my week of Spring Break so I'm hoping we can get all of the not-yet-translated loans into English so when I go back to work I can just glance at the new ones instead of plowing through all of them.)
I must admit that the car parts loan is not something I can translate, because I know about as much about car parts in French as I do in English, c'est-a-dire nothing.

Would anyone like to help me out on Emilie Ndary Samba's loan? She's a widow. She is illiterate. But she seems to have a good business. This is her second time trying to get financed and she's having some trouble getting any traction.

    • investor     Mar 7, 2013

Yep! let me help you out founding Emilie Ndary Samba's loan.
