About Me

I was born in 1988 and brought up in Meru County. I am the fifth born surrounded by four sisters and one brother. I joined attended Primary School in the same constituency where I sat for my KCPE and attained 387 marks out of 500 marks in 2002. In 2003, I joined form one at Materi Girls' Centre, Tharaka Nithi County for my high school studies. I completed and scored a mean grade of B plain. I later joined Kenyatta University in 2008 and completed 2012 with a Bachelor Degree in Information Science, second class upper division. Currently, I am in my second trimester, Masters degree with sufficient help from Zidisha.
Having brought up in a humble background was not easy for us. My parents were peasant farmers who depended on rented piece of land per season. It was not a guarantee that they will harvest enough to take care of us due to the weather conditions and also the fact that they missed cultivating the land since some seasons would pass without enough money to pay for it.
I was a church youth leader in my local church and high school. At the university, I was a choir member and used to pound the drum to the rhythm of the song. I am still a choir member to date. I am in praise and worship team too.
Since I was a little girl, I liked serving and helping particularly the special needs and physically challenged children and adults. I have learn online and through my own exploring different books, videos etc how to communicate through sign language. and Yes! I can communicate a number of sentences to deaf. Am hoping one day I will get funds to join a special school to learn more on sign language.
I appreciate CDF, HELB, Zidisha, Tala, Mshwari for their help in education and short term loans for other necessities. I thank God, I am where I am after long endurance and persistent.
I have been selling classy handbags through friends referrals and offering deliveries. I also have a printing business. This handbag and printing business grew with the help of Zidisha, though the sales went low since covid-19. I am also an employee in a Kenyan university on part time. Zidisha also helped me pay part of my university fee in 2015.
Despite my mum not being financially stable, she has adopted 2 kids that I am helping her raise and pay school fees too. She believe in helping someone else to tap blessings. I also got one beautiful daughter.

I thank God for this far because without him, nothing would be possible. I am also grateful to the mighty Zidisha Team.

My Business

Zidisha helped me start my first and second business; sale of classy handbags and printing (reprographic) business which has helped me cater for some of my bills. This 4th loan, I have planned to put up a grocery business for my mum so that she can be able to cater for some bills and this will not only ease my burden but also inspire and motivate her that she can indeed do something to earn her few coins.
I am also employed on casual bases as a librarian. The salary I get I pay for the basic needs and save the rest for my daughter and sibling school fees.
I am grateful to this organization.
