I am Kenyan living and working in Kitale town of Trans-Nzoia County. I hold a bachelors degree in Agricultural Economics from from Moi University and have worked as a credit analyst since 2008 first at Equity Bank and later at Agricultural Finance Corporation till now. I have always had passion for business and farming from a young age. I keep poultry at my home place in Nambale, Busia County and also run a milk vending business. I purchase milk from local farmers and sell it at a small profit around the area I live. Knowing very well that a salary is never enough to meet my personal and growth needs, I engage in other income generating activities as mentioned above mainly at my free time to have residual income. My goal is to eventually grow my poultry farming enterprise to be my full-time engagement and in so doing attain financial freedom and I believe I can. I also plan to install a milk dispenser machine (works like ATM for banks) in Kitale town to modernise my milk vending business.
I am employed full time which gives me the money for my family upkeep. However, I also do commercial farming and milk vending business. I have just began a poultry venture where I keep indigenous chicken (kienyeji), I have 100 birds which are one month old and will be ready for the market around December when the demand is at an all time high. I project to get a gross income of $1,150 and a net profit of $500. I require about $100 to expand this venture. In the milk vending business, I sell on average 100 litres of milk per day which fetches a profit of $11.5 thus making about $345 per month. I intend to increase the milk sales per day by acquiring more working capital to increase the profits. The two ventures have huge potential as there's a ready market for the products I deal and I believe I will be successful in turning these two into big profitable companies in the near future.
I am requesting for $66 to be invested in my milk vending venture. I intend to increase sales in the milk vending business by increasing the amount of milk purchased per day for sale from 100 litres to 250 litres. This will see me double my profits. I sell on average 100 litres of milk per day which fetches a profit of $11.5 thus making about $345 per month. There is a lot demand for fresh milk which I am unable to meet currently as most household prefer the cheaper fresh milk to the processed one which is usually twice expensive. This will ensure I am able to meet the weekly payments without fail. Further, I have a monthly salary which can complement the business income. If I can get this money for a start, I will be able to meet the demand for milk as I plan to expand the business to reach the ultimate goal of having a milk dispenser in my area.
