About Me

I am Richard Mutisya, born and brought up in Kitui on the Eastern side of the Republic of Kenya. I went to school up to secondary school and later got a job in Mombasa where I was working in a music store.

I am married and I am a father of two children aged 12 and 5 years old and they are all in school. I am a team player and I participate in many social work and I am also actively involved in church activities. I am a family man and I like inculcating good values to my children and those around me.

I believe hard work pays and through the years, I have struggled a lot to be where I am and I believe in making progress year after year. I also like doing charity work when time and resources allow especially helping the aged in the society with their chores.

My Business

I run a small hotel where I serve food people from the local community and the surrounding areas. My business employs three workers and I am the fourth one. We prepare local cuisines and our prices range from $1 for a simple meal to $3 for a sumptuous meal.

Due to my experience in this area and maintaining high standards, I am almost always assured of a good flow of clients in my hotel. I make sales of about $500 per week out of which 10 - 15% is my profit after all expenses are paid. I use this money for my family''s upkeep and support my parents back home.

This is a modest amount of profit by urban standards and it leaves no room for business expansion. For this reason, I have to rely on credit for any kind of expansion hence my decision to join Zidisha.

Loan Proposal

I run my business in Mombasa town which is coastal city with a typical tropical climate and high humidity. This makes refrigeration a very important part of my business. Unfortunately due to inadequate funds, I am unable to buy one. The effect of this is that a lot of food goes to waste due to lack of refrigeration.

If I get this funding, I will be able to secure a second hand fridge at a cost of $200. I intend to top up the difference with my own savings. To all lenders, this is a viable project and I till make a big difference in how I do my business and curb the wastage that I am currently experiencing.

Due to the daily flow of customers to my establishment, I will be able to pay this loan as stated above. Kindly consider lending me and make a difference in my life.

I am happy that I have managed to clear my loan without a hitch. I am amazed by the flexibility of Zidisha loan and the low interest. I believe I now have a partner I can rely on for my business growth. I managed to purchase a refrigerator with my first loan and this changed the way I do business drastically. It brought food wastage to an end as I would throw away food that was not consumed due to hot weather here. I now even buy food such as vegetables and fruits in large quantities and store them under refrigeration. I get discounts on these items thus making good savings. Overall, my profitability has gone up – thanks to you lenders.

Hi Richard, don't explain it to me but to the public. Can you somehow convert these 35% into an amount of Dollars? If possible try to build a medium percentage and sum it up on a monthly or quarterly base so we see how your investment returns cash for you.

Regarding spelling mistakes: I don't have a problem with it at all. I just think it makes a more professional impression to have a tight and correct headline for potential lenders who scroll through the project lists.

Thanks Krautfunding, hours have turned into minutes, Forgive my spelling errors - English is my third language. The main reason why I need this fridge is avoid wastage of food.

Being a tropical country, any food that is not consumed after being cooked goes bad very quickly if not refrigerated. In a bad day I can waste as much as 35% of what I prepare. I will be able to save this if I manage to get the fridge.

and btw: we don't see a 'statistics of failed loans' so don't worry. It makes no difference for lenders if it's your 1st or 7th attempt...

    ...and never surrender...

    Hi Richard,

good luck for the last hours...just in case you shouldn't be able to complete your loan request in that time: don't give up. Maybe you can add a sentence about the amount of money the fridge would save you and what you would like to invest this money into. We lenders love stories about business plans, growth, additional employees etc. ;-)

Maybe you could also fix the spelling mistake in the headline...it's a 'refridgerator'. Call it "Used refridgerator for my small restaurant", that sounds more sexy ;-)

    All the best
    Kraut

5 days to go at 25%. Dear lenders, please don't let this loan increase statistics of failed loans. The project I intend to undertake with this loan will be the turning point of my business.
