I am a 35 year old Kenyan citizen aged who resides in Kisumu city. I was born and brought up in Siaya where I attended school upto college level. My childhood was very modest and was faced with several challenges since my mother was a widow and only did menial/casual jobs to sustain the family. I am a sixth born in a family of eight.Life was very difficult as mum could only afford only one meal per day and most of the times we would go without food at home. I overcame this by excelling in class since my desire was to be the best I could be in all my endeavors.
I started my business as a side hustle beside my job. I began by selling to my colleagues and through word of mouth, I was able to reach to more clients and thus opened a shop.It has since thrived and I have no regrets so far. Where I live people are very warm towards one another including strangers. The people are very receptive and accommodating to everyone around them.
I am a mother to three lovely boys who go to school here in Kisumu. The first born would like to be an architect, second would like to be a doctor while the last born who just turned six years this month would like to be a barber!
My greatest hobby is "DO-IT-YOURSELF" (DIY) and as such I have a lot of innovations I have carried out before through this hobby.
I sell clothes, accessories and beauty products. I sell both brand new and second hand clothes. I buy the goods in bulk once every week. I chose this line of business because I have a great sense of fashion and people often asked me where I bought my clothes.I also think that people, both men and women, should dress appropriately,be confident in whatever body size /shape, smell good and be generally well groomed. The boutique business is very versatile and dynamic with fashion changing every so often. This therefore means that I have to bring in clothes that are trendy, stylish and suitable for different types of clients. Most of my clients are women who are very stylish and they often tell me that "fashion changes but style doesn't" Some of them say that "Fashion is bough yet class is inborn". So I always have to keep with the pace/ trend. The cost versus revenue vary from time to time and is dependent on factors such as; season of the year, functions, time of the month, available stock etc.but generally it is a profit-making venture. The proceeds I make from the business have enabled me to educate my children as well as my nephews and nieces, build a home for my mother, reinvest in the business and currently I am building my own home here in Kisumu. It has also enabled me to invest in agriculture in my rural home.
I will purchase waves and hair piece at USD 44.6. I will the sell them at 90 USD making a 100%profit . This is the best time for this since we are approaching the holidays here in Kenya and the sales usually go up and business is good.
The profit made from this sale will enable me do a few things for my children as i have been saving in their piggy banks so that i can give them the Christmas gifts .This year i promised to buy them bikes.
