My name is Alice, a mother of one child and a businesswoman doing business in Mombasa city. I was brought up in a farming community but I always had a desire to move into urban areas and that is what I did immediately after my secondary school.
With the help of my husband, I started selling second hand clothes since this was the ‘in-thing’ then. I am still doing this clothes business but I recently started selling music as well so as to maximize the usage of my business space and make more income.
I believe in hard work and I am very determined to expand my business to become a big store in future and turn it into a family business where my children will also be working.
I run three businesses under one roof, i.e. selling of second hand clothes selling music CDs and Mpesa business . I started with the former but I later realized that there is a huge market for music – both audio and video. This is the second year into my music business and it looks very promising.
I generate about 80% of my income from the clothes department and it is the one I want to strengthen with this loan. I need to stock many and different types of clothes for me retain and win new customers. The demand for this is always higher than what I can cope with in terms of finances. I normally depend of the income that I get from the business to buy new stock and occasionally get assistance from my husband but this is very rare.
Given affordable credit, the business has potential to grow much bigger and that is reason I have joined Zidisha and I hope to join the growth curve now.
I will reinvest the loan amount in the business by Adding my Mpesa(mobile money transfer) capital which is a very big business here in kenya .This will help me in quickly raise school fees for my children, My clients will be able to access the service of money transfer more so those who buy my other goods from my shop at any given time.I believe when I get this loan facility from you its going to boost my business and also am going to be in a position to employ one person to help me operate the shop thus creating an employment opportunity.Given this amount of $360 i wil invest the whole amount in raising the mpesa capital. The total expected profit from this is $70 per month which I will use to pay back and reinvest in the business for more profit
