My name is Mwangi, a small time businessman in an area called Mishomoroni city. I was born in the central highlands of Kenya and this area is has rich soils and reliable rainfall. However, there is a high population density and the farms are too small to sustain large families like my dad's.
This is what led me to move from there to a distant town - Mombasa where I started living with my brother before finally moving to a smaller town called Mishomoroni where I do my business.
I deal with sale of second hand clothes where I buy at a wholesale price and sell at retail price. My profit margin ranges from 20 - 30% and my income is about USD 180 per month after paying my rent and other small bills. This is what feeds my family and takes the little one to school.
My business has been growing year after year and I hope it will now be catapulted by credit that I will be getting from Zidisha. Thank you for giving me this rare opportunity.
I will buy more used clothes to resell. This time, I want to buy a stock of shirts and then introduce trousers. These two items are popular with the masses and I hope to cash in on this demand to increase my sales.
I hope to get a profit of 30% or even higher if the season is good. This is important because it will accelerate the growth of my business and give me financial stability that I have lacked for a long time.
Thanks.
