My name is Elijah Keah, born in Mombasa county in the coast Kenya. When I came of age, I joined a local primary school and then proceeded to secondary school. After that I did a shipping course. I also did s short course in computer applications.
I later got a job at a local marine company where I worked for 10 years. I left this company when I was retrenched due to low business. I decided to start a cloth selling business and that is what I am still doing. I also do money transfer business - locally known as m-pesa and this is what gives me my income.
I am married with 4 children - 2 boys and 2 girls all who are in school.
I am in clothes selling business. I deal with second hand clothes which are quite popular with the masses because they are affordable. I have been in this business for about one year. I source my stock from large stores in town where I buy in wholesale price and then retail them from my outlet.
I normally make an income of USD 200 per month but about half of that goes to meet my overheads such as rent, electricity etc.
I am planning to venture into sale auto-spares once I get enough funds hence my reason for joining Zidisha.
I intend to use this money to get more stock for my clothes shop. Since the amount is not much, I will use it to buy a dozen men's shirts which are currently in high demand. My profit margin is about 30% and I hope to sell the stock within a very short time.
This will contribute to my business growth and also enable me to repay this loan without any problem. Ultimately, I hope to get more credit from Zidisha so that my business can grow even further.
Thank you.
