About Me

I was born and brought up in a village near Karatina town (Nyeri) on the foot of Mt Kenya. I am the first born in a family of six; my parents being farmers in the area. I fought through financial strains in my education; emerging as the best student from a public school our division in the 2013 KCPE.

I graduated with a BSc in Environmental & Biosystems Engineering from the University of Nairobi.

My Business

I currently do part time jobs and my vision is to secure myself permanent job and then I will be saving to start a long term investment in agribusiness. I am particularly interested in horticulture (capcicum, French beans, Strawberries or apples).
I will maintain a clean and excellent Zidisha record, invite my friends to this wonderful community and at the same time grow my loan limit up the ranks.

I will buy more drip tapes for my irrigation project. This will enable me make more yield and more money to expand my venture. I want to really thank the lenders who supported me in this. I promise to always repay in time.

Francis, I currently don't have any re-lending funds available, but if I receive some before the expiration of this loan request, I'll certainly come back in here and contribute. If it doesn't get fully funded, don't take it personally and don't give up. Just turn right around and post again! Lenders' circumstances may be better the next time around (re-lending funds available and/or enough in the personal budget to be able to upload funds via Paypal or credit card). :)

My previous loan really helped me in the payment of labour for land preparation and purchase of seeds. I also used part of the loan to pay for professional advice on the best practices to apply in my farming of capsicum. I expect my first harvest to be around June but I need for financial support for extra costs like transport of the farm produce and also to extend my acreage.

My capsicum are doing quite well. Zidisha really helped me in funding purchase of seeds and paying for professional advice. I had previously made savings for land preparation, organic manure which is environmental friendly) and labour costs. I am expecting to start my first harvest in June. And then I will use the proceedings to extend my drip irrigation system, water capacity (purchasing another tank) and extending the acreage.
My vision is to have a pilot farm in which other farmers can look up to and learn more on modern agricultural practices. And then I can help feed the world!

My produce is really thriving! Thanks to funding from Zidisha. Here is a picture of the bell-shaped pepper in my small farm in Kenya, Africa. Am planning to expand the farm from a quarter acre to one acre next month (May 2015).
I will clear my current loan by 26th April and then apply for a higher amount to enable me expand my venture. I have so far maintained a 100% on-time repayment record.

Thank you for your compliments Laurie! I will keep you posted on my progress. I am aiming to attract the external market with more of the farm products. Apples will be coming soon. :-)

Hi Zidisha family! I am delighted to be part of this great community. It's my great pleasure to show you my progress in my horticulture venture. I started with an eighth of an acre but am looking forward to expanding it with time.
