About Me

My name is Jane Wanjiku. I am born fourth to a family of eight children, three brothers and four sisters. My mother is alive and is at home but my father passed away a few years ago. It was a very sad moment for me and my family but so far we have managed our feelings in losing our dad.

I joined school at the age 3 and I completed my O level education. I am a diploma certificate holder in Business Administration from the Kenya Institute of Management, Nakuru town main Campus.

After I finished my college, securing employment wasn't easy. I faced tough times of being bankrupt and not affording basic and essential things in daily life. I asked my elder sister to assist me with some little cash to support myself. She did not hesitate to give some money. I pondered on how to spend this money but a brilliant thought came to me and I I started buying clothes in wholesale price and selling them in retail price. I gradually improved in this business and currently this is my main job. Amazingly, this is exactly how I started the business.

In my culture, people are have a special meal called 'githeri'. This is my cultural staple food. It is a mixture of beans and maize. My forefathers ate it and until now people eat it. It is the easiest food to cook. One thing that other cultures find awkward and that they think we do exaggerate a lot is the fact that in my culture people eat githeri three times a day, in the morning, for lunch and supper in the evening. Other cultures eat this food occasionally but we eat it full time.

I would like to thank the Zidisha team for giving me this golden opportunity to experience a whole new life because with the last loan I was able to expand my business more. It has given me a chance to be able to introduce brand new clothes to my secondhand clothes. Zidisha has done to me good and I humbly thank you all.

My Business

Thank you Zidisha for your kind generosity towards empowering me. In my clothes business, I have elevated the selling of secondhand clothes to the standard of new clothes which has led me to bring new, better quality & affordable clothes from the main distributor. I started a small store shop where even to get new clients was a challenge until you came in for my rescue. From your previous loan, I was able to increase my sales target, which was good compared to previous years. Now I am coming for your help again to support my business to grow more.

From the next loan advanced to me, I will add more ladies hand-bags, purses, and ladies new arrival shoes. The goods will supplement for my clients who have been asking for the same, thus getting the goods at a one-stop shop. The above goods are to be ordered from the main distributor in town, which also makes arrangements to ship them to my store at no extra charge. With your kind generosity, I will satisfy my customers needs and also be able to sell my products at a discounted price. Introducing this new merchandise in my shop will greatly boost my sales, and also I have an advantage as I am relying on my clothes client base as they are already in the market for baby wear.

I will use the profit to take care of my son's education fees. I feel honoured that I am able to provide for my family. I also have in my home a better sofa set and a TV, things which before I couldn't afford. Thank you and kindly I invite all my lenders to support my loan. May our Great God bless you as you prepare to improve our lives.
