About Me

My name is Damaris Okwuosa, I am a graduate teacher, a mother and a small scale business woman. I also engage in charity work whenever I have funds. Am the 6th child in my family. Raised by my mom. I got interested in business to be able to substitute the income that I get from my day job. This has helped to supplement the needs of my children and some of the people who benefit from the charity donations that I am able to make. I enrolled and completed a business mentorship program sponsored by UNITAR AND ABSA. Through this program I was mentored and able to manage my small business well and balance it well with my day job.

My Business

I have been selling small fish,( omena) or dagaa in my neighborhood. I do this on small scale. I get a profit of about Ksh7,000/-per month. This business helps me to manage expenses in my house, am able to provide basic utilities for my children. I also started a new side business; food related. I prepare snacks(mandazi) for school going children ,these snacks sell very well in the morning. This has helped me to expand my income a little bit and to cushion me in the tough economic times.
Am also gaining more experience on how to grow my business. I hope that in the near future I shall be able to expand my business and get moreopportunities and an Increased customer base.

Project Proposal

I intend to use the funds to pay school fee for my daughter and pay for her lunch program. This will enable her to learn without her having to walk back home for lunch.

Good morning my dear backers. First of all I sincerely apologize for having delayed in paying back my loan. I received my loan and embarked on my project, however the proceeds had to be used on medical bills through December. ( My parent who is quite aged was unwell and she even underwent surgery). She has since made good progress in recovery and I am also coming back to my feet. I am committed to paying the whole amount and I should be able to complete the payment in the course of May 2024. Once again thank you for your patience and I regret the inconvenience caused to the entire community.

Thank you so much for accepting to fund my project. I am very appreciative. I am acquiring the small printer today, its going to make my tuition work easy(from my previous project), because we have already started. Secondly I will be able to buy packaging containers and some of the common spices available. I intend to market through the local shops, I will do this on weekend when I am not handling students. Once am able to generate some profit, I can now handle a few cake orders until schools open.
Thank you once again for your support.

Good morning from Kenya, East Africa. I am happy to have successfully paid back my Zidisha loan. I managed to obtain a few reading materials and stationery. I bought two revision books and some books for younger readers. I was able to photocopy several other papers that older students in senior school can use for revision during the long holiday break. With these, the learners who engage in this programme ,voluntarily shall benefit .
Thank you my dear backers for making this possible

In my last project we managed to plant trees, and we even spared some little cash and added to what we needed to buy food stuffs for the Zion Children home. . The dry season is here so we shall be largely involved in watering the trees as we plan to develop our own nursery for the next rainy season
