My name is Beatrice Auma,I am married with 3 children,Benard ,Robert and Loice. I grew up in siaya county western kenya,i went to Sega secondary school and later went to university of nairobi where i studied general agriculture.
I secured a job with the government after college ,but the salary could not give me and my family a descent life. I decided to do farming ,to cater for my extra expenses.I did not take it seriously at first but when I realized it could give me more than what my white coller job was giving me i decided to quit and concentrate in agriculture.I do mixed farming .I keep both livestock as well as grow horticultural crops.I currently have 200 indigenous chicken and 1 acre farm under vegetables.
I come from siaya,a county mainly occupied by luos.we are diverse in culture ,our main food is fish and we also have traditional African dances. president Obama also comes from my county.
My first born son, want to be a pilot, second born is interested in farming while my last born want to a nurse.
I like watching documentaries, visiting friends and visiting orphanages to help the children with washing and donate the little i can afford in terms of farm produce.
I practice mixed farm and keep indigenous poultry for meat and eggs. i also grow vegetables in my one acre piece of land and sell them to the community.
Farm produce is source of food for urban population who dont practice farming.
I preferred farming to other enterprises because am an expert in agriculture and therefor it best suits my knowledge and the revenues were good.
I spend $300 on feeds, manure, etc each month in my farm.my revenue from sale of eggs and vegetables is $650 per month. In a good month I make $350.
I use my income to give education to my children, pay for other general utilities ,take care of my aging parents and save for reinvestment.
Dear lenders,I am writing hoping that you and your family are doing well. My family is fine here.I am requesting for a lone to buy a barbed wire to fence my farm to avoid conflicts with neighbors goat that occasional sneak into my vegetables farm and spoil the produce. These would help me cut unnecessary loses and help me stay at peace with my neighbors. I would really appreciate your support.
