About Me

REASON WHY I STARTED CHICKEN FARMING
1. During this Covid – 19 periods I was highly affected as a Motorbike Taxi driver. A
spontaneous event leads to a discovery of the importance of Chicken farming. My Wife had
started to engage herself in Chicken farming not with commercial interest a such, but to our
amazement the chicken number started to grow and this lead to a quest to start chicken selling.
Eventually this started to be a way out during the difficult period of Covid-19. However few
challenges started to emerge, we were not well equipped to establish a healthy business. We been
living in a farm that we were allowed to stay as caretakers, it’s uncertain how long we will be in
this farm. Some of the challenges arising is the lack of a land and funds to buy a machine like
incubator that helps with Chicken rearing. There is a growing market sparked by the need we
have generated around, from the hotels and market centre that we sell chicken products also
include the community. This has prompted us to seek a solution. My wife and I have opted to
reach to friends to help us out in building this business further, as we know it will allow us to be
a blessing to us as a family, the extended family, the church and community at large.

My Business

The first step of starting a poultry business is the selection of bird type. My choose of birds have
been largely layer chicken or broiler. There are some other types of birds that I consideration too
pointed in section two below.
2. Sort out the Area of Interest
My main focus will be ensuring higher level of professionalism, some niches of poultry farming.
1. Layer Chicken Breeding: These are mainly used for egg production.
2. Broiler Breeding: It is used for chicken meat production.
3. Hatchery: Is for hatching new chicks.
4. Poultry feed: It produce feeds for other poultry farms.
These are my choose of breed layer and broiler together.
