About Me

My name is Kisalu Wambua. I am 29 years old and married with one child. I run a business in Mombasa city where I deal with sale of electrical installation items. I was born in Eastern side of Kenya in a place called Kitui.

I did eight years of primary and then four years of secondary school in Kitui and then joined a technical college where I was trained as an electrician. Due to lack of formal employment I decided to open an outlet for selling electrical installation items such as sockets, cables, bulbs etc. I cannot regret having taken this route of business because it has been a rewarding experience and I am able to provide for my family adequately through the business.

My Business

As mentioned above, I run a small shop in town where I sell electrical installation items. I source the items from wholesalers and then retail them at a profit from my outlet. I mainly sell to installation technicians who do wiring jobs in people’s homes. The future of the business is bright since the government of Kenya is currently doing a massive electrification throughout the country.

My sales volumes are not as high as I would like it to be due to lack of capital for expansion. I expect this to change with the credit that I will be getting from Zidisha. I make a net income of about $240 per month which goes into my family’s sustenance.

Loan Proposal

If given this money, I will use it to buy the following items 4 boxes of energy saving bulbs at a total cost of $95. I have decided to invest in this product because the government is running a campaign where consumers are encouraged to replace old filament bulbs with energy saving ones. I am sure I will be able to sell the stock within a short period.

Dear lenders, Kisalu's business collapsed shortly after taking this loan. He is still looking for gainful engagement but so far he has not succeeded. He has promised to repay this loan as soon as he gets back on his feet.

Dear lenders and mentor, I am the one who invited Mr. Wambua and unfortunately his business closed down two months ago due to financial difficulties. Luckily, he got another job recently and he will start repaying loan soon. I will keep reminding him of his obligations to repay this loan. Thank you for your patience.
