My names are Grace Njeri Riungu. I was born in 1985 14 November in Nkubu Hospital Meru Central. I was raised on a place called Chuka in Meru south District. Ii started school in the year 1988 at Chuka Day School and I was later transferred to Chuka Township where I started my class one. I joined my Form one educations at County Girls secondary in the year 2002.and later I was transferred to Mariana Secondary where I did my leavers and got a D-plain.
Having been brought up by a single mother in a family of 8 plus my cousin and my grandmother, it has been quite difficult to cope and with a lot of challenges, but my mum, she is the best. She gave us everything she had and told us not to lose hope. I did not get to college because of finances, but I did finish a computer application at Chuka University in 2010.
All these years I have worked in many places like promoting Safaricom products, a saleslady at Jemaja Feel Clean products, and a house girl, when I decided to do my own business. Early this year I took a small retail shop which was being sold through my savings and also was given a hand by my mother.
I am operating a small retail shop situated in Kilifi Town at a place called Mtaani. It is strategically located around houses, offices and the Hadaa mosque. It is a shop which deals with many small goods like rice, sugar, flour, Blue Band, cooking oil, sodas, milk, bread, cakes, sweets, tissues, bisquits, mosquito coils, medicines, e.t.c. I also sell eggs, yoghurt, maziwa mala, paraffin, airtime and pens, pencils, e.t.c. I also started selling grocery things like potatoes, onions, cabbage, sukuma wiki, e.t.c. I am longing for the day when I will reach the goals through my hard work and determination. Right now I need the financial help to boost it. It has helped me to pay my bills and through it I help people.
My retail shop sells many items but day-to-day the most sales come from sugar, salt, rice and maize flour. With this loan, I can increase the stock to keep a two or three day supply and save transport, instead of just one day. Then I can buy from the wholesale at a better price to increase profits. I pray for your blessing on this business and thank you for making me a Zidisha member.
