About Me

My name is Millicent Atieno. I am a trained teacher yet to get a formal employment opportunity. I live on the shores of Lake Victoria, where the staple food for the local people is fish. I decided to get into the business of selling fish so as to help myself and others who are unable to raise their daily food. The fish, however locally, it is available, sometimes it is quite hard for some people to obtain it owing to the risks associated with the practices of fishing employed by the people around. I started this business shortly after my college so as to keep me busy as I bridge the food gap between my people and the food itself. Therefore, I take this not only as a business, but as a means of saving those who may not be privileged to obtain the fish for their daily consumption.

My Business

My family has gotten one boat that goes out fishing on almost a daily basis. On a good day with a good catch, depending on the type of fish caught, the cost can go up to $20 after subtracting all the expenses of paying the fishermen and savings for the maintenance of the boat, not to mention the family consumption and charity for the under-privileged. I also take the big fish for preservation and transport to towns where they are sold off there. Others are supplied to the local hotels and small food kiosks for local consumption. Therefore, it is a business that is worth a guarantee of growing to greater heights owing to very little competition because the beach I operate from is still small and less depleted and populated. I am therefore convinced that If I get the privilege to obtain this loan, I will duly repay it.

Loan Proposal

Dear Lenders,
This loan is to be used solely for my fish retail business. I find it important because I serve the entire society and cater for their needs of food, especially the under-privileged children and families living near the beach. Furthermore, it is a source of employment to the people because I may need more fishermen to work on the family boat for fishing.
Therefore, I humbly appeal to the lenders to help me uplift the business for the benefit of the entire society.
