About Me

My name is Alphonce Kyalo Mutuku. I was born in 1990.I was born in Machakos which is in Eastern part of our country Kenya. I am the only male child in my family.Being the male child, I have responsibilities on my shoulders especially if you come from a poor background as I am. This is the main reason why I started my business of selling fruits and also keeping goats. I thank my parents for educating me to the level of secondary education. I am planning to go to college in future when I save enough money to pay for my school fees. At the moment, the model I use to save money is to re-invest. From the proceeds of the fruit business,I buy goats.I started with one goat and today I have more than ten. It is the same model I have used to expand my business. Now that Zidisha has come to my life, I can hope for a better future.

My Business

I started my business in the year 2012 after seeing my people suffer to buy fruits 3 kilometers away. I started small coz I started with a capital of Ksh 500 where I made a profit of Ksh 100. Today I buy stock worthy Ksh 2,000 and I make an average profit of Ksh 600. I also sell fruit juices when certain fruits are in season and also when its summer coz the sun that time around is very hot.in good day I make a profit of Ksh 1,500 when I combine the two. I have been able to buy goats from the proceeds of my business which I sell when there holidays like Christmas and Easter holidays. Through my business I have been able to support my mother to pay school of my last born sister who has not finished secondary education. Now am planning to go college to hone my skills in business. I am very optimistic not that I have known Zidisha life can only be better.

Loan Proposal

First and foremost I am so grateful to Zidisha and all my lenders who loaned me the first loan which has enabled me to double my profits. I am better because of you guys. Thank you so very much.
Now I am requesting for my second loan which I intend to make bricks to built my own house. I have been living in my grand mother`s house. I feel the time has come to built my own house which is popular in our place. I have been buying building materials in bits. Like now I have enough iron sheets for the roof of my house. I have been also able to buy doors and windows.
The loan will enable me make bricks which most of the time are made at this dry spell period. I intend to make 4,000 pieces which will be enough to built a two bed-roomed house. The labour of making the bricks is as follows : cost of unkilned brick is Ksh 3 which brings a sum of Ksh 12,000 which is equivalent to 137 USD. Water will cost 22 USD. To kiln the bricks which makes them resistant to rain is Ksh 6 which brings the sum of Ksh 24,000 again which is 272 USD. Kilning comprises of calling a kiln expert who comes and arranges the brick in a kind of a house so that he can burn the bricks. He will then cut trees for firewood.
I am looking forward for this loan coz it will enable me own a house and be independent from my grandma in terms of housing.
