My name is Samuel Mensah from Bawku municipality in the upper east region of Ghana. My parents are both Ghanaian and they all hail from Bawku in the upper -east region. They have eight children together and i am the second born among them. I attended St. Thomas preparatory school where i sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination and passed with distinction. I then proceeded on to Bawku senior high school as a day student and because i was very hardworking and took my studies seriously, i graduated as one of the best student in the school. Though i have excellent grades in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, i am still at home doing some business to raise money for my university education. My parents are farmers and they suffered post harvest losses which has affected their finances and as a hardworking boy i decided to try hard and get money to support my parents take care of me at the university. I want to read law at the university and I am trying hard to achieve this aim. I am hard-working gentleman who has the aim of managing and owning chains of businesses. I operate a printing press shop with a photocopy machine and one desktop computer. I want to procure new computers and photocopy machines to expand my business. In addition to my printing business, i also sell sachet water to people and the business is doing very well and i am sure Zidisha will help me to enlarge my business so that i can realise my dream of becoming a lawyer in the future.
My business is a printing press business and am able to generate enough money daily to cater for my basic needs and also save part of it so that i can enter the university without any financial burden. I sell sachet/Pure water in addition to my printing business and is very lucrative and attractive as town folks come on daily basis to buy drinking water from my shop.
I need the money to expand my business in order to generate more revenue and to improve my living conditions and the condition of others. The dividend from my business has help me a lot in meeting my daily demands and getting money also to do my part time computer training course. For my printing business, I generate between 70-100 dollars a week depending on the volume of printing works i do. For the satchet water business, when i buy 200 -300 dollars worth of goods, i make 100-180 dollars a week. The profit is re-invested into the business to grow it.
I operate a printing shop in my home and it is my source of livelihood. The proceeds from my business has kept in school for years because without it no help from anywhere. I am very knowledgeable, truthful and hard-working. My printing business faces collapse because faulty equipments that ought to be replaced/buy.
