i am a kenyan citizen aged 35, married, educated running a cereal store.my business is still located at munanda trading centre.as mentioned earlier i run a food store. my business is doing fine compared to the previous years. having rent a business room at the heart of munanda trading centre my business id booming day in fau out. currently my needs a good amount of money because i am used to broke other business man who operate from the capital city and need to buy farm produce. my family ia doing. my kids attend anestar school(one of the brst schools in kenya) my wife is bizzy attending farm duties.
my business is loacted at munanda centre, i manage this business with a capital of 250000. my business mailny deals with buying farm yields from farmers i.e maize, beans, peas. this business is mostly busy during the harvesting season, just to give a reflection of last year, i was buying 120 of 90 kgs each bags of maize at 2000 sh per bag. transport the maize with a lorry to nairobi, this usualy cost me 20000. i then sell each bag at 2700.. ie. buying (24000) + transport(20000) =260000. profit= 324000-26000= 29800. after deducting some minor expences i remain with a profit of kshs 20 000, this whole process may take 4days and i mostly happens 4 times a month hences may add up to ksh 80000.
and sell each bag. the harvesting seasons mostly add up to 4 months in a year. challenges in the busuness are the business is seasonal, poor road infrastructure, unreliable markets, change in price leading to loss. i would request zidisha lender, to give me a loan of kshs 80000 to buy a motorbike which will help me access the very remote areas where a lorry cant make, currently i donkeys are the only means of transport in this area. i am planning to buy a motorbike called 'KINGBIRD 150-4" with double shock absorbers hence fit for huge laugages.
