The business is not bad because people are leaving CRT monitors to TFT owing to their portability, clearity and low power consumption.

My Business

I trade in a 17’’ CRT monitor to my customers with a 17’’ TFT at a fee of kshs 7000 and make a profit of kshs. 1000. Then resell the ex-uk at kshs. 2500. Thereby making a profit of kshs. 3500. I also install windows operating system to my customers at kshs. 2000 and Application software at kshs. 1000.
In a good trading month I make kshs. 20,000 – 30,000 on my freelance technical IT job and part time teaching job kshs. 12,000. Therefore my total monthly income is kshs. 40,000. The only challenge I have is sharing computer workshop with friends whom we share rent and other expenses. I want to start my own workshop.
I currently have savings of kshs. 150,000 and need kshs. 50,000 from zidisha. This will total to kshs. 200,000 that I think will be enough to start my own workshop. I will pay 4 months’ rent deposit of kshs. 40,000, buy furniture at kshs. 20,000, install unlimited internet line at kshs. 20,000, trading license at kshs. 4000, out door signs and adverts at kshs. 10,000, 2 desktop computers at kshs. 40,000, employ a secretary at a wage of ksh.8000 per month and keep the rest of cash for buying and trading in ex-uk TFT monitors to my customers.

Loan Proposal

buy 2 desktop computers at kshs. 40,000, employ a secretary at a wage of ksh.8000 per month.and the rest of my savings will be used to start my own business.

Special thanks to all zidisha lenders who generously contributed towards my first and second loans. You are special people. You are very understanding and caring. You were patience when my business was down beginning of this year. You stood by my side, encourage me and allowed me to reschedule my loan till the business picks up. You never got angry neither did you harass me by text nor calls. You're reminder messages were very polite and encouraging. I thank God I never disappointed you too by paying lump some money and clearing my loan in advance with several months. I know you are much impressed with me.

God bless you all, you are wonderful people!!!

Much greetings to dear friends and lenders, I lack words to express my appreciation to zidisha organization for their continued support to low income people in third world countries. Where I live in bahati center Nakuru, people of different ages, sexes pay great tributes and respect to me for my tireless assistance to them in signing and receiving loans from zidisha. Their lives are changing each and every day because those who could afford meals on the table can do so now, those who could not take their children to school can do so now.

I get happy when i assit them and they succeed because i consider that as a blessing. I personally pay great tribute to zidisha also because my family too are happy because my computer business and farm have picked and now I'm going to service my loan without straining and apply for another one soonest.

I pledge to you that wherever i go and meet business people in need of the loan facility, i will always introduce them to zidisha hoping you will consider them.

May God bless and protect zidisha family, directors and volunteers as they continue to support the low class people to move from economic slavery to wealthy people in the society. I foresee zidisha members in bahati living stress free and comfortable lives in future.

Dear lenders, it’s good to give thanks at all times both sorrow and joy moments. its unfortunate and heart breaking not to myself but even to lenders who in one way or the other have supported my business, your continues moral and financial support cannot go unmentioned whether the business is well or down.
This evening of 25th June, as I sat down to write this letter, I’m deep in thought and much saddened by the fact that I have not submitted my two months installments and almost approaching the third month, not because I wish to do so but because of the natural calamities that befalls my business.
I talked to one of the zidisha lenders over the phone for at least twenty minutes explaining to her what went wrong. She was very comforting, encouraging and I open up and shared my problems with her. She approach my case so marvelously and that by the end of the phone conversation, I had a renewed hope and I promise that I will pay whatever I get and keep in touch with my lenders of my commitments to settle the loan.
To my good lenders, thanks for the patience and trust you have on me. I promise to settle my loans before the due dates probably before the end of the year and in the course of this month or next month, I will send whatever amount I get to settle the pending arrears. Kindly don’t run down your patience, just remaining understanding. We live in a country that live is so hard, insecurity, and unpredictable weather climate that is not doing good to us but we trust in God that one day all will be well and we shall live a testimony to zidisha.
Lastly I plead that you don’t reduce my credit limits so often and rapidly, I get encouraged and motivated when I see my credit limit increases but not decreasing. I promise to settle my loans in time once things that Im putting in place works on my side so that come December when the business picks, I can get another reasonable loan to stabilize my business again.
      Thanks and god bless you!!!

Thanks to zidisha team for their tireless effort and trust they have on us with their money in improving of lives in kenya. This being my second loan with zidisha, i have not regretted being a member of the team and i have introduced quite a number of business people to join zidisha.

The first loan helped me establish a computer firm that picked up so well and the second one i used to establish a farm at home that is slowly picking up. I establish a horticulture farm. I dung a small dam, bought a water pump and pvc pipes. I planted cabbages and tomatoes in 1 hectare farm. the december rains was too heavy and the market supply was too high and therefore the sales was not good as i had approximated but i have not given up, what i have done is to give a second chance by now planting maize using irrigation and if all goes well I plan to sell when green and make big repayment of the loan come june.

The dairy farm that i also establish along side the farm is also doing well though the cow is producing little milk but still hopes to get a more productive cow that will produce much milk come december this year. i'm also rearing local chicken that freely roam in the farm. i started with four of them and their number has so far gone to thirty six and iam targeting around 150 come december. the farm is having two employees, one is casual while the other one is permanent. i part with kshs. 8000 on their salaries.

my humble request to zidisha is just to understand and support my business till i realize my dreams, should i become succesful in all my undertakings, i swear not only will i remain a borrower member to zidisha but a donor too. May the almighty lord grants your team more strength as you continue to support us.

NB: The old woman attending my dairy cow is a widow, she has been supportive to my farm and have leased me i hectare farm for the pastures. she is committed to seeing our farm grows.

Much thanks to zidisha team for lending me the above loan to diversify my business to agricultural activities, but its unfortunate my business is not picking up faster as i expected and this has negatively affected settling my loan in good time as i had expected and i am therefore pleading with you to lessen my loan installments so that i can be paying kshs 5000 for sometimes and once the business picks up i will be in a position to pay kshs 10000 per month so that i shorten the loan period and if possible finish the loan before september 2013 as earlier agreed in the terms.

otherwise i am sorry for any inconvenience i mighty have caused your organization. but thanks for understanding.

I lack words to express my deep since appreciation to Zidisha team for their tireless support to small growing businesses in Kenya and other parts of the world by lending money to people in 3rd world countries to start small or expand their businesses.

I’m one of the beneficiaries who has directly or indirectly benefited from the loans. The first loan worth kshs. 50,000 helped me expand my computer business and this yield me more profit enabling me to repay the loan within a short time of eight months instead of twelve months. This put me in a good position to request for more loans from zidisha team in July and the bidders happily and quickly raised my second loan within two weeks.

The kshs.100, 000 I received from zidisha on 29th July 2012 enabled me to diversify my business to both dairy and horticultural farming. I used part of it to construct and buy a dairy cow while the rest I decided to start a horticultural farm. I bought a water pump machine, constructed a dam and planted cabbage 1 acre, tomatoes ½ acre and maize 1 acre, all this I expect to harvest in mid November or early December this year.
It has been tough on my side because I have to buy farm inputs and hire people to work on the farm with the assistance of farm manager to supervise the farm work but I hope the profit I will make after all the sales will be high.

All this achievements I have made so far is because of zidisha team and their bidders.
As my farming business grow, I will I appreciate if zidisha would extend a helping hand to the farmers around me by loaning them to do commercial farming, because this is a remote area where people believe that horticulture can only do best in Kenya highlands like north rift valleys and central Kenya.

I will also wish to register my farm this year as zidisha farm because I attribute all my success to zidisha and questions based on the name will be answered in reference to zidisha financial support. In short I will be ambassador to zidisha in Luo land Nyanza Kenya where zidisha is still not known.

Lastly, owing to my financial position and the current work in the farm, I humbly request to extend my repayment loan to a further grace period of two months hoping that it won’t inconvenient your organization.

    Thanks in advance.
