About Me

My name is George Macharia and I am based in Mombasa town Kenya. I run a business as a videographer where I shoot video for all occasions from social events such as weddings, birthdays and corporate events as well as doing documentaries.

I was born 36 years ago in a family of 8. I went straight to business after my secondary school.

I am married to one wife with one school going child aged 5 years. My wife helps me in running of my business as well as handing household chores.

I believe in hard work and honesty and these qualities have kept me in business for the last many years and my clients keep coming back for more orders.

My Business

I deal with shooting and editing videos. I believe I have an edge over my competitors because I have invested heavily on quality machines both for recording and editing the video clips.

I have managed to buy these equipment through savings but there is much more needed to make my business more productive. I make between $400 - $600 net profit. This amount can rise even higher if i can do value addition by buying a few more equipment like a good printer that I can use to print covers and other artwork that goes with my video production.

I currently use a third party to do the print work for me which eats on my profit margin. i will be very grateful if afforded a credit opportunity with Zidisha since getting credit locally is not easy.

Loan Proposal

My work deals with video production. I normally put my final output on VCDs and DVDs. Most of these disks need to be printed and (both inlays and case covers) and I outsource this job computer bureaus. Needless to say, this slows me down and it is also very expensive.

If funded, I will use this money to buy a printer capable of printing CDs as well as photos. I will use it to print my own work as well as for other people. This will increase my productivity hence more income for the business.

The printer I have in mind will cost about $400 and I will add up the difference from my pocket.

Thank you.

Dear lenders, I spoke to George today and he told me that he relocated to another town and this disorganized him quite a bit. He will start repaying his loan as soon as he settles.

George, kindly let us know how's it going, and whether smaller repayments would make a difference.

    All the best,
    Mårten

    Hello George,
    How is the business going?

I wish to reduce my weekly installment to Ksh 250 because my business is doing badly. Most of my clients are yet to pay me and this has affected my cash flow badly. I will resume making bigger payment as soon as the situation improves.

Hi George, How is the business going? Will you be making a payment soon? Your last payment was due over month ago. If you need to re-schedule payments, it is important to keep people up to date on the reason why.

I have cleared my first loan and I am about to apply for a second one. I spent the first one to buy some video accessories and this gave me convenience in doing my work. I no longer hire those items and this means more efficiency and good savings for my business. I am very grateful for your support.

George Macharia is my colleague. He is an honest and hardworking person. I am sure he will put the money in his business if you lend him and pay promptly.
