My name Daniel Ouma. I was born in 1990 in Nyanza region of Kenya. I went to school there and later came to Mombasa to live with my relatives while still looking for a job.
I am married with a 5 year old kid who has not figured out what he wants to be in future. I also take care of my nephew who is 13 years old.
I like to do community work through my church when time allows. This includes visiting and assisted the elderly, rehabilitating drug addicts and feeding street families in Mombasa town.
I in a peri-urban area where tap water is mostly scarce. Most people here depend on water vendors for their needs. I am such a vendor and I ferry water from the source to people's doors at a fee. I sell one 40 liter jerrycan for 20 cents. I can sell up 20 such jerry cans and make a profit of about 5 dollars per day.
It is a tough job but it feeds my family and other needs. I also do other menial jobs like carrying other goods at a fee.
I currently own and operate one handcart which I use to supply water from the source to the clients in their homes. This has served me well over the years but I can increase the income tremendously if I get a second one and a helper to push it.
A new handcart will cost me USD 150. I can make arrangement with the seller so that I pay an initial amount of USD 100 and then the balance will be paid in installments for 6 weeks. This arrangement is fine with me and if funded, I will be able to acquire the cart hence increase my daily income.
