About Me
My name is Cecilia Wangui - born in Central Kenya and later relocated to Mombasa city. I am the first born in a family of three siblings. My parents are small scale business people back home.
I went to primary and secondary school and later joined a college where I did a certificate course in business management. However, I did not secure a job and that is when I decided to start my own business selling wall hangings.
I am married with 2 kids. My husband is also a small scale business man who hawks hardware materials. I am a woman full of desire to succeed and I believe in hard work and being focused in life.
My Business
I started my second hand clothes business eight years ago. Later on, I decided to branch off to selling educational posters and school text books. This has proved to be a wise decision and I have since discarded selling of wall hangings to devote my energy and resources into this new venture.
My take home from this business currently ranges from USD 280 - USD 350 but I am hoping to improve on this figure once I boost my stock with credit from Zidisha. Ultimately, I would like to expand and supply on wholesale basis where customers will have a variety of products.
Loan Proposal
As mentioned above, I started selling educational posters to supplement my income that I get from my used clothes business. I normally sell the posters to schools and to parents who have school going children. I buy one poster at $1.5 and sell at around $2. This business is doing well so far since I have sold over 100 pieces in the last two months that I have been in it.
Due to demand from my clients, I want to introduce exercise books as well as a few story books to go with the posters. This prospects seems very promising since it is driven by the demand from my existing customers. This will translate into more sales and more profit and hopefully give me financial freedom.
