About Me

I was born and raised in a family of 7boy and 3 girls. Just because my dad was'nt working by then, i had to be on and off school as i was sent home to collect school fees. I completed my primary education some years later and i had to stay outside for 2 years waiting for my brother to complete his secindary education. This was because my parents couldn't raise school fees for both of us at the same time.
Four years later after joining form one, i completed my secondary education. I passed moderately well but far much below my capability. This i attribute to being on and off school as i was being sent home to collect school fees. I remember some days when i'd go to school without taking anything in the morning.
After finishing my secondary education, i couldn't join college due to money constraints. I had to start working as a cook in one of my friend's local hotel. He was making good money according to me by then and i developed an intrest of starting my own business.
I saved the little i earned and after 2 years i had saved 15 000. That is when i started my own local hotel for i knew it will give me good money. I started by cooking chapati and supplying building and construction workers with food. I decided to rent a business room which costs me sh 3000 per month. . To date i feel i need to expand my business and thats why after a collegue introduced me to zidisha i embraced it whole heartedly knowing i will have a chance to expand my business.

My Business

I run a local hotel at Buguta. In my hotel, i mainly cook chapati, pilau, roasted meat and other foods.
Buguta is a town in the kenyan coast region and rice is the most eaten cereal here. Most of the chapati from my business get ready market from building and construction workers who mostly depend on credit for them to pay at the end of the week. As a way of attracting customers i had to provide these workers with food and get the money at the end of each week.
I had to choose starting a local hotel because of the experience that i had gained while working in my friends hotel as a cook. I felt he was making good money and that is what made choose running a hotel over other businesses.
It is not that bad because per day i may spend sh 1500 to 2 000 and by the end of the day make sh 3000.
The much i get from this business i use it to pay for my part time college fees. I felt i wasn't good enough and thats why i had to join a catering college. Part of what i earn i save it so as to reinvest in the business to expand it. Now that i have applied for a loan from zidisha, i feel my business will expand soon.

Loan Proposal

My Bajaj motorcycle for bodaboda requires a new cylinder head for it's original one is not functioning well. This has been a problem for the past few weeks now. I opt to borrow from zidisha because of it's low interest rate.
