About Me

My name is Sarata Traore (née Ouedraogo). I was born and raised in Bobo Dioulasso. I did go to school, up to middle school. I was born to a polygamous family; my father married two women in addition to my mother, and I consider them like mothers. I am also married and have six children, including five daughters and a son, all of whom are going to school. My husband is a civil servant and every day I do everything I can to meet my needs and those of my family. I work as a salesperson. I sell traditional wraps made of bazin (damask) fabric.

My Business

I have been selling bazin (damask) wraps for many years. This business is successful. Bazin is a type of wrap that is very popular amongst women, and also to a lesser extent amongst men and children. It is expensive because of its quality. I purchase the bazin fabric in Mali and sell it (wholesale or retail) in Bobo Dioulasso and Banfora. Sometimes, I also sell it on credit to civil servants and women who are members of associations. I sell bazins called "Bazin Riche" at the price of 30,000 francs cash, or 40,000 francs on credit (payable in four monthly installments). Zidisha's help would bolster my business.
