I am Mr. mwangi I indulge in animal husbandry to boost my income. zidisha enabled me to start rearing rabbits and it's been successful so far. I have managed to pay off my first loan thus making me confident in requesting for another so as not to interfere with perceived income.
I have been selling rabbits as pets and rearing animals. also use their manure for gardening. due to their high fertility rate they have been a steady supply of income. well I would like to diversify to local chicken for both meat and eggs. I wanted to start with five hens each going for kes600 comes to kes3,000. I have repaid my previous loan as I intend to take up this new venture please assist in any way you can, thank you in advance.
I plan to dedicate the money to chicken (kienyeji) rearing for eggs and later for meat purposes. people have become very aware of their health and many have opted to eat healthy thus reducing or abandoning broilers that are perceived to be given growth hormones that are affecting humans negatively. I believe there is a growing market niche for local chicken breed that is non go fed hence even the eggs. this would be my main area of concentration given a chance even schools nowadays are advocating for fruits instead of snacks making children to make better healthy decisions.
