About Me

I was born in Kwale County in 1966. I moved to Mombasa with my parents when I was seven years old. I joined Jomvu primary school and after leaving standard seven I went to Taru secondary school up to form four. After form four I went to Emmah high school for my A-levels. So i actually grew up in Mombasa.

After A-levels I joined Kenya Volleyball team which doubled up as my employment. I stayed here until 1996 and then got a job with Oil Refinery in Mombasa. Here I worked for three years and decided to go to a beauty college to study as a saloonist. It took me six months and after college I decided to start my own salon.

Am married with 2 children and my children are still in school, but have not decided what they want to be after leaving school.

I plan to grow my business so that it can be more beneficial to me and in the process i can be in a position to create employment.

My Business

My business deals with beautification. I have a saloon where I do plaiting, weaving, braiding, perming, etc.; I also sell cosmetics to my clients and outsides as well.

I decided to start this business in Meru because it is a tourist town and ladies mostly like keeping themselves beautiful at all times. Also Meru town is where ladies like adorning themselves.

I chose this kind of business because I love it and i am comfortable doing it and I also like dealing with beauty products in general.

My biggest challenge was setting up the business due to finances and also getting clients but with time i managed to somehow overcome them.

I am determined to grow my business to level where i can offer employment to other people and make more profits to improve my living standards.

Loan Proposal

The purpose of this loan is to upgrade my business by buying the necessary salon products like cosmetics, weaves and a second hand blow drier at a cost of $95 to add to what is already there.

This loan will help me get what i did have in stock and in the process i will be able to serve more clients and in the event this will boost my profits.
