About Me

I was born in Malbaza region of Tahoua, but I grew up in Dogondoutchi, region of Dosso where I attended primary and secondary school between 1984 and 1997. I took interest in business when I entered university in 1999 and since then I have been looking for ways to develop a huge business enterprise. The vision is to provide jobs to young people and reduce the prevalence of poverty, but also, to influence them for positive change and development. I had an early experience of youth work in the church where I was youth leader. In 2011 I started my work with YMCA to make difference in the lives of young people by empowering them. I am single and live in Boukoki II neighborhood in Niamey.

My Business

Beside my work, I run a business of animal rearing, which I started after following a business training by DBSP. Having a salary paid work is not all the time a guaranty of family life without financial problems especially in Niger. The business training contributed a lot to uncover my abilities and create self-confidence, trust, and the desire to be independent. Since I am not okay with my salary, doing business activities will be very helpful for me to cover my needs. I bought female sheep that I entrusted to my friend in the village. There is better facility to carry out the business and find labor in the village areas. But the difficulties include slow productivity and long term profit from outputs. Hence, my idea of starting this new business on cosmetics especially perfumes. The profit from this second business will provide additional investment to the first one in terms of enough animal feeding and vitamins. The success story of my businesses will definitely be a testimony to all young people to know that we can earn income and provide for our needs without asking help from others.
Translate My Loan Proposal
My first loan from Zidisha has contributed a lot in the growth of my animal rearing business. I am grateful to Zidisha and to all lenders who have contributed in the success of my business through the first loan.
As my sheep keep growing in number, I wish to come for a second loan which again will allow me to buy vitamins, grass and animal feed to keep them well fed and in good health. I intend to set up a good enclosure to protect the animals from heat and rain during the approaching rainy season.
I pray God to keep blessing the Zidisha community as they continue the good work that helps the poor and most vulnerable to get out of poverty and improve their living conditions.

Loan Proposal

Dear lenders and Zidisha family,__Let me first say words of thank you and gratitude for the previous loans that you founded since the start of my livestock business. The loans really contribute in improving my social life because I was able to assist my parents from my revenues and run the business successfully which would have been impossible with only my remuneration. I wish to come again for a new loan to expand the animal business by building a stock of herbs and grass after harvest by farmers. I will buy 600 bundles of grass at 0.5 US Dollar each to store half to feed the sheep and the remaining half for resale at the price of 1.5 US Dollar 4 months later. A profit of around 400 USD can be reinvested in the business. Also 150 US Dollar will be used to buy a ram because the sheep are now grown and some probably in gestation. I have planned to buy one last year but was adviced to postpone. With the rest of the money from this loan I will be providing for veterinary care and additional feeds such as bags of wheat bran every month. And finally to the woman who takes care of my sheep I will offer a monthly motivation because she is mother in need of support to provide for her family. This loan will again contribute to success and meaning in my life and those who work in my business.__Thank you Zidisha and lenders and keep up the work

The appropriate moment to resell is near. I want a change of date for the last repayment that I have not been able to do on time. This is due to bank transaction delay from my employers that comes at the wrong time when I have no savings. The transfer was made on 17 March so I am expecting my funds to the account in 1, 2, or 3 days. In few weeks I will resell the stock of wheat barn with profit. And this will bring enough money to repay higher instalments and feed the animals better.

    Dear lenders,
I am pleased to share some updates about my livestock business at the beginning of this new year. Your support once again comes at the right time. With the loan, I was able to buy bundles of dry grass, though at a higher price than expected. I bought 5 bags of bran at 16 USD each to feed the sheep. A stock of 35 bags of dry feed at 12 USD each is constituted to store 25 for resale and use 10 to feed the animals. This will help me to prevent expensive expenses when the animal feed will be scarce and the price increases. Two sheep have given birth and two are in gestation. I contracted with a veterinarian for treatment and vitamins last Wednesday. Overall, I am happy the business is doing well, and I had great holiday celebrations. Many thanks to Zidisha and lenders!

    Dear Rabiou,
I am new to Zidisha. Since I am well acquainted with Niger having spent time in Niamey and in Agadez, I am very encouraged to see how well you are doing. It is not easy for people in Niger with so much poverty and harsh conditions. It is wonderful to see your photos and read your updates on how your business is going. I too am grateful to Zidisha for giving us the opportunity to participate. Keep up the good work. I look forward to hearing how things are going.

      Dear Mariamfula,
Thank you for your encouraging message. It is good to hear that you are familiar to the realities of Niger. We are working to reduce the incidence of poverty, and thank God partners are supporting. Yesterday, with the support of US Embassy in Niger and the university in Niamey, we trained 154 students in worldview shift and change of mindset to prepare them for a business training. Young people are more and more interested in entrepreneurship but need funds to materialise their business ideas. Thanks to Zidisha for giving opportunity to have loans. I will keep providing updates on how my business is doing and call on more lenders to support my loan. Thank you for your support.
      Regards,
      Rabiou

    Dear lenders,
I trust all is going well with everyone. Thank you again for accompanying me in my business venture which keeps running to my happiness and you all. Your support through the loan and encouraging words on my profile are the reasons for the success. The sheep are healthy because I have been able to provide feeds of various forms with the loan from Zidisha. This enables me to provide financially to my parents living in the village. Thank you, lenders and Zidisha. I am looking forward to your continuous support.
    Many greetings,

    Hello Zidisha and lenders,
I spent some days (2 weeks) on vacation in August and used the opportunity to learn to play music with a guitar. Thanks again for your support of my business. It is going well and thank God for the abundant rainy season in Niger these days. The herbs are abundant during this period and my sheep are moving in open fields for grazing which is good for them. Thank you all for supporting with the loans and therefore giving me an opportunity to learn more from my enterprise of sheep rearing. It is good to discover the value of commitment in all entrepreneurial efforts.
    Warm greetings,
    Rabiou

    Dear lenders,
I trust you are all doing great in your entreprises. With the loan that I received, I am able to provide monthly feeding for the animals and it helps to keep them in health. Now it's the time to transfer the sheep to the village for grazing in the farm fields. The rainy season is starting.
But here in Niamey where I live the weather isn't too kind, the temperature reaches 42 to 45 °C
    Thank you for support.

    Hello Zidisha lenders,
I thank you all for enabling me to keep running my livestock rearing project. I am happy that I repaid my loan fully. I started with two sheep but as the number grows bigger I needed your funding to buy more animal feed, vitamins and treatment. I used the loan in buying dry herb and grass during the hot season when there was shortage of animal feed and the grazing fields becoming more and more distant. Fortunately with the help of Zidisha and lenders I was able to cover expenses of my animal business which I couldn’t have been able to afford based on my remuneration alone. I also used the money from my lenders to replace one sheep that died when trying to give birth. But it is good and encouraging news that other sheep give birth to female which will contribute in increase of the number of animals now seven. I am confident that in few years I will make this business a modern farmhouse, of course with your continual support in funding my business ideas.
    God bless Zidisha community.
