About Me

I am Sheilah Kwamboka born in 1986 in Kissi County. I schooled at Gusii Highlight school up to secondary school. I am married and blessed with two lovely kids. Hard work and dedication to duty has brought me success in life. I am a dairy goat farmer. I started this activity when i moved to Nairobi city, Kawangware area and remained jobless for a long period. I got a boost of ksh.6,000 from my sister who advised me to purchase a dairy goat, a subject i accepted. Within one year period my only female goat produced twins in addition to one and a halve liters of milk that was being produced. In this area, there is very limited land and the little that is there is used differently by the owners; some construct rental houses while others practice subsistence farming. My children wish to become a doctor and a teacher when they grow up. My hobby is singing gospel music and rearing / playing with pets.

My Business

My business deals with rearing and selling of goat milk This is a booming business because of the medicinal value that is associated with goat milk and because many people in this area are yet to start engaging fully in this business. I chose this business because it it very easy to start, it does not need a bigger area to start compared to cattle rearing and there is ready market for the products. My typical costs are the animal feeds, medication and maintenance of the area they stay. My main source of revenue is the sale of milk and at times the sale of older goats and/ or surplus young goat kids to potential farmers. The profit gotten from my business is used to pay school fees for my kids and reinvesting in my business.

Loan Proposal

If granted the loan, i intend to purchase one new breed goat at a coast of 55.5 US dollars, expansion of the feeding and sleeping area at a coast of 33.4 US dollars and 11 US dollars for the purchase of feeds. This purchase will bring new blood and sin-energy in my flock hence increased milk production for better profits. I therefore project my profits to increase by at least 2.3 US dollars per a day.
