I am a rural girl, having been born in the Machakos region of Kenya. I, however, currently reside in the bustling capital city of Nairobi where I am employed. I am married with two lovely boys. In my current post, I am a logistics officer for a beverages company, but on my off days I enjoy doing things with my hands and spending time with my family. I also enjoy the outdoors and love to travel when time allows.
I have dabbled in the making of custom, home-made carpets in the past with some measure of success. I have recently decided to shift focus to the making and selling of snacks. I have long had a passion for cooking. I enjoy trying out new recipes to cook meals for my family in my free time. I have also catered for my friends' parties in the past and received good feedback on the quality of food served. I intend to put these talents to good use in my new venture.
I am in the sixth month of my snacks and fast food business, which has really taken off. I sell a variety of fried snacks, most of which are made with wheat flour, but I also sell fried potato products.
Over time, I have realized that the most popular product is potato fries / crisps. I am, however, unable to meet demand during peak periods on weekends and during lunch hour, as I have a single-compartment fryer which is only able to produce two servings at a time. As a result, I lose sales opportunities during peaks.
For this reason, I want to purchase a double compartment deep fryer, which will cost me about 300 USD. I will also need to purchase a stand and pay for fixtures. This will allow me to produce 6 servings at once during peak periods, thus this should increase sales by up to 50%. With this, I will be able to comfortably pay off the loan as well as source additional funds for new products.
