I am a rural girl, having been born in the Machakos region of Kenya. I, however, currently reside in the bustling capital city of Nairobi where I am employed. I am married with two lovely boys. In my current post, I am a logistics officer for a beverages company, but on my off days I enjoy doing things with my hands and spending time with my family. I also enjoy the outdoors and love to travel when time allows.
I have dabbled in the making of custom, home-made carpets in the past with some measure of success. I have recently decided to shift focus to the making and selling of snacks. I have long had a passion for cooking. I enjoy trying out new recipes to cook meals for my family in my free time. I have also catered for my friends' parties in the past and received good feedback on the quality of food served. I intend to put these talents to good use in my new venture.
As business has grown, I find that that I need to increase the amount of chopped potatoes I can produce to keep up with demand for potato fries, especially during peak hours. I currently rely on an assistant, who peels the potatoes by hand and proceeds to chop them. While this has worked well in the past, he is unable to keep up with peak demands.
For this reason, I intend to procure an electric potato peeler to manage this demand. There are locally assembled models that retail for about $1,000 USD. I will use the proceeds of this loan to cover part of the cost, while the rest of it will come from my savings. This procurement will allow me to increase my sales volume, while at the same time afford a new revenue stream where I can sell peeled/chopped potatoes to other vendors.
