About Me

I am 36 yrs old tech enthusiast, married with two kids. I have a degree in Information Technology and work full time in a computer shop in the bustling city of Nairobi in central Kenya. As you can imagine there are very few green spaces. I am have passion for nature and animals. I try to spend as much time as I can in the country and generally appreciate a farming lifestyle and value of hard work with one's own hands.

My Business

In my spare time, I try to do a little farming here and there. I also have ambitions for livestock rearing. For this year I have ambitions to rear traditional chicken which are hardy and resistance to disease. I have recently acquired a small piece of land in the outskirts of Nairobi for this project. I have ambitions to develop it for a chicken rearing project - put up a structure and sink a well for water. Since my project location is quite close to the city, market should not be problem once i go live.

Loan Proposal

Electricity supply in Nairobi is erratic with frequent unscheduled black-out's some of which may last an entire day or night. This has impacted my chicken rearing business as far incubation of eggs is concerned as i procured and use an electric egg incubator which relies on constant electricity supply especially in the initial weeks. I have incurred some losses with failures in the past as i have lost quite a number of eggs during long power outage.
With the proceeds of this loan, i intend to purchase a 5.5KVA generator that i have determined will be sufficient from my set up. The particular model i want retails for about 680USD. I will finance the balance of the amount from my savings. Procuring the generator will mean that my incubation cycles will not be interrupted in the event of power outages as i can switch to the generator when it demands. This should increase my profit margin my minimizing egg/chick losses that result when i loose power from the grid.
