I attended primary school in my rural home omoche in Homa Bay County and sat for kcpe in 2003, high school I attended Taranganya High school in Migori County and sat for kcse in 2007,I attended college in Nairobi and registered with kasneb in 2010,but I didn't complete the course due to lack of school fees,I started to work as a casual in Cmc motors for two years , the contract later got completed and I remained jobless for two years, I later met my friend Charles Odhiambo who introduced me to jua kali in 2014 and I started
self employment by training on how to be an artisan,I am now 27yrs and a specialist in metal fabrication at jua kali area in Nairobi kamukunji next to Gikomba market,
for a period of four years now, I decided to train for this job because I love being self employed and encourage more youths to be embrace self employment to cut cases of unemployment .I am planning to expand my business and work with more youths, offer them training and make them productive to the society, this will reduce the rate of unemployment, drug abuse and criminal activities by unemployed youths.
Being a specialist in metal fabrication is my source of income , this is what gives me my daily bread,I get my income from profit from sales of metal boxes I make and sale to my customers within and outside Nairobi. In average I make two to three sets of boxes in a week, this gives me a profit margin of between $150-$200 a week . this is after spending between $250 and $325 in purchasing the materials and Labour. And the profits is what I use to pay for my rent food, bus fare and bills,if I get enough capital to expand and grow, save and I would love to own my own inventory.
I want to buy 81kgs of metal sheets a total cost of $65, the sheets will make 20 large size boxes that will be sold at a total cost of $150.This will increase my stock thus increasing my working capital by $60. After buying all the materials needed.
