About Me

My name is Natasha and I am a Zambian lady. I was born in a town called Ndola and lived there till i was 13 when my family moved to the capital, Lusaka. I went to very good schools and completed my high school education at St. Mary's secondary school. I then did a year in Law at a college called NIPA and thereafter went to study at the University of Namibia. My time at University of Namibia allowed me to go on an exchange programme for six months at Linkoping University in Sweden. I have not yet completed my course due to financial problems but plan to go back at a later time.

I came to the start of my business after watching a Youtube video that really interested me. A nail technician made doing nails look easy and fun and so I went out and looked for the tools i saw in the video. So far i have quite a number of tools but there's still more that i need to acquire.

At the moment, I am working for an NGO called Population Council as a research assistant. I deal mainly with issues pertaining to underpriveleged adolescent girls in the rural areas in Zambia. I interview them on issues like gender based violence, education, pregnancy, early marriages and their sources of income.

My Business

My business is that of a nail technician. It is in high demand because ladies always want to look good be it for work, weddings, school or just a day to day look. I chose this business because it has always been something that i admired when I saw someone doing it and I always wondered how the technician that attended to them went about creating the beautiful artwork.

My typical costs are acrylic and gel polish bottles that I have to order from eBay because I haven't been able to find a permanent source in my town. I usually have about five customers a week and most of these have requested different designs they would like me to do for them so I have a list of things that will improve the quality of my business.

My profits go into a savings account for my future plans to go back and complete my school, and also goes into family needs.

Loan Proposal

With the loan, I will buy good quality acrylic and gel polishes, as well as tools that I am lacking at the moment like partial and full nail tips, glue and nail art stencils. The gel polishes cost $5 each, glue costs $3 per tube and the different types of tips cost $7 per box of 100.

Acquiring these supplies will help me get a bigger clientele because I have educated myself on rare deigns that are eye catching and it will also help me to keep my current clients satisfied with the new styles that I will be able to bring to the table.
