I was brought up in an poor family. My dad was a bicycle repairer before he quit to do small scale farming. My mum did small chores in homes to provide for for us. I went to a primary school in our village and proceeded to a high school where I raised pigs to pay my school fees up to college where I finally graduated with a Bsc in Medical Sciences. Life has challenges that makes us creative and being innovative at times guarantees our survival and success in this competitive world.
there was a gap in my area of residence and I thought it wise to bridge it. There was no independent medical diagnostic laboratory around and I saw the need of starting one. My clients are referred from the small clinics around that do not have labs. There are also clients who come for laboratory tests to determine their causes of ailments before taking any medication. This has also reduced drug abuse. My costs are mainly in purchasing of laboratory consumables like rapid diagnostic kits and reagents. I re-invest my revenue in boosting the stock of consumables. I am single but lives with my niece who aspires to be medical doctor when she grows up and the business helps me in paying her school fees. I love reading financial and motivational books during my free time. I am currently reading the Richest Man in Babylon I will reinvest the profits back to the business to grow and do savings to enable me pay up the fee balance in college and get my certificates
One opportunity leads to the other. Just when I thought I will only stick to offering laboratory services only, another way opens. My town is growing and as healthcare is also core to its growth, the people need quality affordable services. In just one year that I have operated my laboratory, there has been an increasing need of filling the gap and by providing quality and affordable healthcare services.
The loan will facilitate the expansion of my laboratory to a fully functional outpatient clinic. I have gotten a business house and paid six months rent. Partioning works is on. I therefore need the loan for completion and to buy a few equipments to start off.
Below is how I will spend the money;
Examination couch-$130
Autoclave-$260
Blood pressure machine-$72
Simple weighing scale-$45
Thermometer-$15
Stethoscope-$50
Few essential drugs-$100
I have gotten a clinical officer to work in the examination/consultation room as I will be in the laboratory. This will give me a chance to offer a job opportunity to the clinician. My profit margin will increase by $10-$20 daily depending on the in flow of patients
