I'm A Kenyan man, a born again Christian born in the year 1975. Went to Bar Olengo primary school from 1980 to 1988. I l went to Naki high school in the year 1989 and later joined Tracom College where I studied Business management. Life wast easy as many may think, the one think I know is that God had chosen and predestined me before the foundation of the world was made.
My parents were not capable to enable me set my base and therefore a good Samaritan the late Steven Ojuok took me to agricultural training Institute and from there I learned how to feed myself from the soil.
Having come from a Luo background where they are only known for fishing, agriculture was not something to think of but I have manage it so far.
My children (3) have different ambitions from a farmer, a doctor and a pilot. At my free time I like watching "samba shape up" for this enlightens much on my field. watching football and reading my bible.
Since I have now ventured fully in farming, I enjoy every step it's taking me through despite the challenges. I have gone deeply to maize farming since our staple food here is "ugali" bread, not forgetting beans which are so enriching medically ( especially the green one and the black big sized). I chose for God gave these instruction from the beginning ;"Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you,.....by the sweat of your face You will eat bread, Till you return to the ground" And to the farm I went. I first thought it was only for food until I realize that it's doing much more. From it I pay my children's fees, sustain my family and reinvest and enlarge my farming. Right now a bag of dry maize goes for kshs 2100 and that one of beans at kshs 3000. My farm which is only 4acters, produces at-least 40bags of maize and 20 bags of beans depending with the season.
I want to get another one acre farm on lease to expand my farming which will need 315 dollars and my last sale after all expenses, enabled me to have 105 dollars so I only need around 200 dollars for a total production cost.
This will now enable me to meet the demand of my customers for I already have orders of maize and beans in two boarding schools around.
God bless you for being there for me.
