About Me

I have six sisters and one brother. I have a college level of education and was formally employed until 2010 when I went into self employment. I became interested in free range chicken farming soon after and finally started a small poultry project which I want to move to the next level by not only increasing the number of chicken but also building a larger poultry house. After accomplishing the above two actions, I want to expand the project to include supply chicken feed to other poultry farmers. I have also bought a utility motor cycle to facilitate delivery of chicken orders to customers and other project running requirements

My Business

My poultry farming business currently has 480 chicken which depending on chicken orders from my customers can go up to 530 chicken. Next phase of development is to grow number of chicken I keep to 750 by the end of 2017. This business is of interest as demand for poultry products in the county where it is based is very encouraging. Initial start-up capital was US$160 which I raised from personal savings. My lenders through Zidisha have assisted me to develop the projects to where it has now reached. The income from this venture is good and will help me educate my children, cover other personal expenses and project running expenses. We have now established chicken sales outlets to which we supply poultry products , I will be able to handle the orders efficiently as we now have a delivery motor cycle which I purchased through the last loan I received through Zidisha Inc.

Loan Proposal

My initial free range chicken rearing program went very well with support from Zidisha lenders and team. I now have 80 chicken and would now want to grow the number to at least 400 by mid next year. I am in communication with buyers who took over 40 chicken from my first project and their demand is in the region of 130 - 150 per month. This up take during the first loan helped me repay loan in time. I plan to take project to the next stage. I plan to expand the chicken house and increase the number of chicken during this festive seasons to meet demand and satisfy my customers chicken requirement. The expansion of the business should raise my profit between 15 - 20%
thanks for every support.
