About Me

I have six sisters and one brother. I have a college level of education and was formally employed until 2010 when I went into self employment. I became interested in free range chicken farming soon after and finally started a small poultry project which I want to move to the next level by not only increasing the number of chicken but also building a larger poultry house. After accomplishing the above two actions, I want to expand the project to include supply chicken feed to other poultry farmers. I have also bought a utility motor cycle to facilitate delivery of chicken orders to customers and other project running requirements

My Business

My poultry farming business currently has 480 chicken which depending on chicken orders from my customers can go up to 530 chicken. Next phase of development is to grow number of chicken I keep to 750 by the end of 2017. This business is of interest as demand for poultry products in the county where it is based is very encouraging. Initial start-up capital was US$160 which I raised from personal savings. My lenders through Zidisha have assisted me to develop the projects to where it has now reached. The income from this venture is good and will help me educate my children, cover other personal expenses and project running expenses. We have now established chicken sales outlets to which we supply poultry products , I will be able to handle the orders efficiently as we now have a delivery motor cycle which I purchased through the last loan I received through Zidisha Inc.

Loan Proposal

Poultry projected development has been supported with with two previous loan fundings from Zidisha and has grown to an extent that it has been able to support me financially and enable the project employ two full time employees. The demand for chicken from the farm has now outstripped our supply and would now wish to push our chicken quantity to 500 by end of the year. This requires further expansion of the chicken house and addition of more chicks. The project requires an additional US$650 of which we can raise US$300 from our on going project. We are seeking an additional US$350 funding to successfully move project to the next stage of growth.

    Dear Lenders/Zidisha Team

I have been away from action for over a year now due to a busines financial catastrophe I suffered over a year ago when I lost everything (poultry, poultry house, motorcycle and poutry hatchery and personal house effects) which I had invested in due to theft and thuggery. I am slowly getting back to my feet and now wish to start servicing the loan I was granted last year albeit at reduced weekly installments which I can adjust upwards as my financial situation improves. Once more I apologize for delayed servicing of my loan.

    Dear Lenders/Zidisha Team

Once more I wish to express my very sincere appreciation for the confidence you have extended to me by granting me a loan of US$850 (Kshs.85,604) for my free range poultry project. I have received the funds and have now embarked on fencing the grazing area for the poultry and getting a small incubator for supply of chicks for the project. I am also setting up a small chicken feed supply shop.

    Thanks again

    Hello Lenders / Zidisha Team

I wish to express my very sincere thanks to all my lenders and Zidisha Team for funding my loan request. This loan will go a very long way in funding the fencing of the feeding area of my free range chicken project and purchasing a small egg incubator for chicks production for the project. I will also be setting up a small poultry feed supply shop for the locality where my poultryproject is based. Thank you so very much for your support.

Let me take this opportunity to thank my lenders and Zidisha Team for having supported my chicken project to register progress it has made up to where it is now from inception. I currently keep between 450 - 500 chicken at any time. The number of chicken we keep at any time will depend on the customers chicken orders to supply during that period. I am glad to let you know that the proceeds from this project has enabled me to take care of running costs of the project, pay wages of two project employees and take care of my family needs. It is important to mention that the latest loan which I took for purchase of project delivery motor cycle of US$550 is now fully repaid and on schedule. This motor cycle has been a big boost to our timely delivery of customer orders. I am extremely grateful to my lenders and Zidisha Team.

    Hello Lenders/Zidisha Team

It is a while since I last posted an update on progress of my poultry project. I am glad to let you that the project is progressing well. There was a bit of slowdown in project growth from late February to end of March 2017 when we experienced very serious drought. The onset of rains at the end of March 2017 breathed life in the project and the chicken now look quite lively and several hens are sitting on eggs. I have a number of confirmed orders from restaurants and hotels for chicken supplies to service in April and May 2017. Repayment of the current loan is being is progressing well. Thanks again for your support.

Hi Lenders and Zidisha Team wish to thank all of you once again for funding my loan (US$480) which I have now completed paying. I experienced a few problems servicing the loan in the last few weeks when I was sick in hospital but I am now back on my feet fit as a fiddle. The chicken project is progressing well. We already have reservations for chicken by hotels in our county for December festivities. Thanks again so so much.

The extension of chicken house is almost complete. The 50 chicks that were ordered have now been delivered and we have also purchased 25 more indigenous hens and have now increased our daily egg production to average 90 eggs per day. We plan to sell our young cocks from October 2016 to buy more hens.

    Dear Lenders / Zidisha Team

I want to take this opportunity to thank all my lenders who have once again expressed their confidence in my free range chicken project and funded its extension. I intend to increase the number of chicken from the current 200 chicken to 500 chicken by the end of this year. To accomodate this growth, I have to expand the current chicken house and buy more chicks hence the need for loan which you have just funded. Once again I thank all the funders and Zidisha Team.

    Hello Team

I posted application for my third loan almost one week ago and sincerely hope my past funders can once more support support next phase of development of my free range chicken project. I want to expand the chicken house to be able to accommodate 500 grown up chicken and a separate one for 100-200 chicks. Demand for our chicken is very encouraging around our county. Further the project is making a positive difference to other people as it now has two full time staff.

    Hello Zidisha Team

Phone cameras can disappoint. My project photos in phone camera are returning report "format not supported" consequently I have not been able to upload any photos to give visual update on progress of project. However the project is coming along very well. I now have 190 chicken and 70 chicks. The new chicken house is big enough to accommodate up to 300 fully grown chicken with space for 100 chicks. Through this project I have been able to have two full time employees to assist managing the project. The project is also helping me finance family requirements and I must thank all my lenders and Zidisha Team that has walked with me up to this point,

    Hi Lenders and Zidisha Team

Happy New Year to each and every one. My year has started well. I am in the village where communication is a bit of a challenge. The year 2015 ended very well for my poultry project. The festive season was good for the project as I sold 22 chicken netting Kshs.19,500. I have school fees ready for the children and we are now adding more chicks. We should also progress extension of chicken house which we had started in December 2015 using the second loan. Thank you very much to this wonderful team and look forward to a prosperous new year.
