About Me

I am Augustus Asare a passionate and committed development worker who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Information Studies and Sociology from the University of Ghana. I grew up loving poultry farming and i was so determined to start operating one but lacked the needed capital to start. So after school and a few years of working, I decided to start with the little savings i have made and today I happy doing what I dreamt of so many years ago with a farm of about 18000 birds capacity. I am currently married with a one year old son and he loves to be around the chicken. Ghana is a developing country with so much potential especially in the agriculture sector but little financial support for the entrepreneurs to start.

My Business

Unique Heritage Farm and Trading enterprise was born in 2017 in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality to produce and sell high quality hygienic commercial table eggs and chicken. The demand for eggs and chicken remain high in Ghana and a good area to invest in as there is return on investments. I decided to invest in the Poultry sector due mainly to my passion and love for chicken but also the returns on investment after the feasibility study i did before starting. Operating a Poultry farm with about 18000 laying birds requires some substantial operating capital for feeding the birds and also medications. In a month, i require about 60 tonnes of feed for the birds. We use about 20 bags of dried maize, 20 bags of soyabean meal, 20 bags of wheat bran and 10 bags of oyster shells per week. Profits from my operations is usually reinvested into the business to expand the facilities. We currently have a one ton feed mixer to prepare our own quality feed for the birds.

Loan Proposal

Due to the rising cost of maize, soya and wheat bran which i use to mix feed for my laying birds, I need this loan to help me purchase these items in bulk to help reduce transport cost. This loan will help increase my profit margin.

Income Source

Even though the Ghanaian poultry sector is faced with rising cost of feed items such as maize, soya bean meal and wheat bran, the demand for eggs is still very high as it is the cheapest source of protein so i hope to use the sales from my eggs to repay the loan.
