Being brought up by a single parent we had problem in paying school fees.I started small scale maize farming to get income to pay my school fees.I was introduce to small scale maize farming by my schoolmate who was also doing the same to pay his school fees.Since then i have maage my own business of small scale maize farming.the land which is rich agricultural land located in Kenya highlans,it receives rainfalls threfore i do not irrigate my land.maize is staple food in Kenya.my son wants to be a doctor when he grows up.I visit the oldage during my free time
I farm and sale maize.this the common type of business in my area, maize being the staple food the commodity is always in demand.the commodity is useful because it has help me to pay my school fees and other household expenses.Maize farming is easy to manage and maintain, they are not prone to pest and diseases, farm inputs are cheap because the government has subsidise the prices.they is ready market and staple price because the government regulate the maizie price through the National Cereals And Produce Board. My typical cost is 30,000 KES, and revenue is 90,000 KES.The profit from my businee i pay school fees for my son, part of it reinvest to expand my business and pay my household expenses.I also contribute 1000 KES every month to buy a plot to build our local church
I will buy two sacks of fertilizers each at cost of 30$ with my loan,The fertilizers are readily available in the market. This will translate to increase in my output because of enough inputs, as a result there will be more profit that i will get.I will use part of my profit to reinvest in maize farming business, pay school fees and will be able to pay my monthly bill comfortably.I will increse my contribition toward buying the plot for our local church.I wil create awareness to people on how to apply for Zidisha loans to boost their business.Because of enough fertilizers to my maize farm which are key factor to maximum production,i will expect my profits to double
