My name is Benard Kipkurui Langat. I am 34 years old married and blessed with three children. I reside with my family at Nyakachoo estate of Kericho county- in the outskirts of Kericho town.
I am a first born in a family of five.
Due to financial challenges, I could not study beyond form four but I am now an experienced farmer.
My hobbies are watching movies and sports.
I am a full time farmer and we have a family land at Kipchimchim village where we cultivate.
I plant vegetables epscially tomatoes and cabbages- that have good demand in our area. My main customers are the local residents and the grocery owners in Kericho town. I also get bulk buyers sometimes form other parts of the country.
I plant both totatoes and cabbages twice in a year and the peak seson is the one which ends in December/ January when the prices are good.
Farming is my only source of livelihood and i try to improve each day.
Right now, the long rains are just setting in and we are planning to transplant both cabbages and tomatoes from the nursery.
The proceeds from the previous harvest mostly went to payment of school fees for my kids when they resumed school in early January. Therefore i am trying to source funds for the next planting.
I will thus use the $100 loan to purchase fertilizer for planting of both cabbeges and tomatoes soon.
Thank you.
