About Me

My name is stella Adikinyi, I am the first born daughter of late Antony Opiyo and Late Scola Opiyo .My parents passed on when I was in class three,I was left with my uncle, who worked hard to see me through primary school, he also took care of my young brother. I worked hard in school for I knew education meant bright future for me. My hard work did not disappoint as I passed well and was admitted to a good secondary school. My uncle did his best and even sold part of his land to pay for my fees,I completed secondary school and once again did not disappoint him.I was admitted to University of Nairobi, and as fate would have it my uncle passed on in terrorist attack in a mall (nakumatt westgate in nairobi while on duty as security guard) my hopes for bright future dimmed once again.
With no source of income we relocated to our rural home. I did not know how to go about my situation,I knew I had to look for source of income just to sustain my bills,I talked to my young brother and together one morning woke up early and went to the garden,we actually did not know what we wanted but just dug. After preparing the land we were stranded because we didn't have anything to plant. My grandmother gave us some cow peas seeds to plant.we planted the cow peas and to our surprise it really did well. Unaware of market trends we took our produce to the market only to find the market flooded. we sold at a throw away price ,but i got interested in farming and did market research to know the best time for selling. the next time i took the vegetables to the market i smiled back home having sold at good prices.
I am single unmarried ,but I have a young brother and my niece and nephew whom I guide and mentor as they go along with daily activities. They are interested in what i do and want to be agronomists in future. I am also planning to study agronomy once I make enough savings.
I like reading novels, riding and running during my free time.

My Business

I am a small scale vegetable farmer and my dream is expanding the farm so that it becomes the best supplier of indigenous vegetables and tomatoes in western Kenya. My products are leafy traditional African vegetables and tomatoes .
The goods are always in demand because of the high population in my neighborhood. Most of them have white collar jobs and have no time for farming, and so they form my market.
I really cant say how i choose this business because i just found myself digging, but i can say I decided to remain a farmer because it is very profitable business and running it is easy. with time I have developed passion and I love what i do.
I spend $45 in average every month ,mainly for manure and labour. In a month my monthly revenue average is $200.
I use my profits to pay fees for my young brother and my nephew. I also save for business expansion.

Loan Proposal

I hope you are fine dear sir/madam.I am requesting for $100 loan to finance the purchase of irrigation pipe for my farm. This will help me,water my farm with easy and avoiding carrying water long distance. I have $30 in savings that i would add to $100 loan to get the pump. Thank you in advance.
