I am Ugine Wandera. I am the first born in family of 4 children.
I hold a BSC in Natural Resource from Egerton University. After graduating, I tried looking for a white-collar job unsuccessfully. I joined ngao youth group where we were trained about fish farming, and I decided to try it out. Armed with my business proposal, I approached my uncle, who agreed to finance my first pond. I dug up a pond and stocked it with 1,000 fingerlings.
After 8 months, I sold them off and repaid my loan. I now have six ponds to ensure frequent income. I am also expanding my venture to include horticulture because I have enough water for irrigation.
I have one child: he is only 2 years old. He is aggressive [in a positive way] and I love him so much. My hobbies include football, watching documentaries, and guiding and counseling youths.
I am a small-scale horticulture and fish farmer. I provide vegetables and fish to my clients, who mainly include hotels and schools. The demand is high because of the lack of suppliers, as only a few youths dare engage in farming.
I choose the farming business after joining Ngao youth group and learning about fish farming. I then decided to do horticulture farming to utilize the water. I am very grateful and happy with my job.
I spend $100 to buy seeds and take care of the farm. My average income per month is $320. I use the proceeds from the farm to save for business expansion and support my family and parents.
Hello Zidisha team and lenders, I take this opportunity to request my first loan to facilitate the purchase of a foot pump for irrigation. The manual foot pump costs $130. It will help me get water from the dams to the farm easily and without disturbing the fish. It will also enable me to further expand my farm and increase production, hence higher sales and profits. Thank you in advance.
