About Me

I come from a humble background of five siblings, brought up in a culture where the community values education. I went to public schools both my primary and secondary education through aid from our church, well-wishers, and little from my parents. I was able to join college were I study certificate in education.
I saw an opportunity for setting up a small Cybercafe near the school gate. It was a good venture since University students needed the internet desperately to do their research work. I sourced funds from some of my friends, and I bought 2 computers, 2 chairs, a modem, paid house rent and electricity. I still look forward to growth and expansion through Zidisha.

My Business

I operate a small cybercafe business near my college where my customers are the students. The internet, printing and photocopying services are on demand for students because their assignments involve research. My last Zidisha loan helped me buy a color printer and this has improved my revenues by Ksh 200 ($2) per day. Currently, I make $6 (Ksh. 600) a day, less costs I remain with a profit of $ 3.5 (Ksh. 350)/ day. This translates to $95 (Ksh. 9500-Ksh. 10,000) a month. I use the money to help in paying fees for my younger brother, and I also get some pocket money to pay for my expenses while at school.

Loan Proposal

The number of clients coming into my business is increasing. These clients usually stay there for averagely one and half hours. Most of them have on several occasions asked to buy bottled water or a soft drink from my shop because there are no food stalls nearby nor a shop were they can buy them. Unfortunately, I don't have any because I lack the equipment, so I would like to buy a small freezer. The freezer would help much because the place is hot and I would be able to sells cold soft drinks and the bottled water to them. This will not only serve my customer but will attract more who would just be coming to buy the soft drinks and water, they might as well consume the services I offer.
A small freezer goes for $180. I will begin with two crates of soft drinks, which go for $ 5.7 each and 2 dozens of bottled water go for $ 4 each, both at wholesale price.
A full crate of soft drinks brings $ 3.3 in profits while a full dozen of water makes $2.8. Students like soft drinks, so a crate can take on average 1 day, which will translate to around $ 60/month profits. A dozen of bottled water can take on average 2 days, which translates to $53/month in profits. The total profits come to $ 113/month in profits. If I less the electricity costs, I would remain with approximately $100 / month. This will double my income and I will be able to help my parents, my younger brother get the education he yearns for, and even share my story with aspiring entrepreneurs who wish to grow their businesses.

Jambo Gabe, I suppose they call you Gabe. Anyway sir, this is James, one of the lenders to Jackline Arusa. Would you please contact Jackline and tell her that I have sent her a letter on Zidisha? Thank you and I hope your business is doing good. I know it's hot in Kenya right now and lots of people are buying cold sodas. I have daughters and sons in Kenya who own businesses and are selling a lot of sodas. Please tell Jackline that I sent a letter. Keep on keeping on. James

    Dear Lenders,
My last Zidisha loan helped a great deal. I was able to buy a color printer for my business and as a result, it has multiplied my revenues. I make $30 on top of what I used to make and this is a great improvement to my life and my younger brother's education who doesn't have to be sent home every time for lack of school fees. I believe if my business grows, I will be able to assist even more people get the life they dream of. Zidisha is the only place to be and I have seen the lives of some of my friends who are on Zidisha being changed as well. I thanks the lenders who contributed towards my loan and also those contributing to other entrepreneurs' loans; you are changing lives and I believe you will live your purpose.

    Dear Lenders,
I wish to convey my sincere gratitude for the support you gave me. I have been able to increase my general income and I believe this is not the end of it all. I have a feeling that keeps driving me towards a purpose driven life, I life of financial freedom, I purpose to move away from the 9-5 schedule to a life where I can manage my investments and create employment hence improving the lives of people in my community and my living standards as well. I plan to diversify and move into other areas, such as farming, selling tangible goods, and setting up educational institutions to support those yearning for knowledge. However, this is impossible without you. I believe your continuous support will help stand on my feet. Currently, I am a volunteer mentor of 46 other people and I purpose to give them the support they desire. I will not only monitor their loan performance, but I will keep checking on the performance of their businesses to ensure that they are doing well and able to improve their lives and those around them.
    Kind Regards

Hello, Marion, Patrick, Betty and Julia,
I spent a good time with my family and it was awesome. We'll be going for my cousin's wedding on 22nd of this month. Ceremonies are usually part of our culture and I pray that all goes well. I appreciate you for funding me generously and I always pray to the good Lord to give you strength and prosperity in all your endeavors. As I look forward to diversify to other business spheres, I pray that you may continuously fund me.
    Wish you well,
    Higher Regards

Dear lenders, after receiving the loan, I purchased an EPSON printer. I'm now able to serve clients who need colored prints. Attached is the printer I purchased.
I have used the increased earning to repay my loan and also to purchase small exercise books meant for resale, which were also on high demand. Zidisha is the only place I can get the funds to grow my business.
    Regards.

    Dear Lenders,
I am grateful for your support. I have no appropriate words to describe but all I know is that God is always faithful.
The money has given me a stepping stone to grow my business. I will be able to obtain a new printer hence increasing my revenue streams. In addition, it will give me an opportunity to access more loans from Zidisha to diversify in other business ventures.
    Thank you so much
