About Me

My name is Daniel Mutua. I was born on 22nd January. I was 6 years old when i started my primary education at Kianthumbi Primary School where i completed my primary education in 2002.I then joined Nkubu High School in 2003 for my high school education and completed my Kenya Secondary Certificate Education 2006.
The main hardship i have encountered after completing high school is the raising of capital to start my mini green grocery business which was about $500.00 (apr. 43,000 KES), that includes the cost of putting up the grocery structures and acquiring the necesary legal document
My reason for aspiring to start a mini green grocery is due the plenty availability of fresh produce from my home area which happens to have a cool and wet climate which is best for the needed fresh produce.
With the idea i can generate enough profit to ensure my children gets the best education in my area.
In my past time i like reading books on business including agribusiness, business and entrepreneurship articles.

My Business

I have one employee who gathers the needed farm produce and delivers them to my mini grocery., paid about $75.00 per month for those services, these farm produce include Kales, spinach, cabbages, tomatoes, onions, and fresh dairy milk.
The services are useful because offer a permanent employment to my employee. The goods are on high demand such as Kales, spinach, cabbages, tomatoes are on high demand in the urban centres..milk is always on demand in my area, therefore the goods are useful.
I chose this business because i had a passion and a lot of curiosity for agribusiness, the climate favored the business too. i am also into entrepreneural activities
Monthly i spend about $120.00 on food, transport costs and maintenance of the business. The costs increase as the price of the produce increase especially in the dry seasons
I reinvest part of my profits in my growing business and help support my siblings in their day to day needs.

Loan Proposal

Currently am operating in my shed which needs some repairs to upgrade it since the shelves are almost breaking down and upgrade the roofing from the polythene paper roofing to galvanized iron sheets.
I shall need 2 iron sheets which will cost 16 dollars(around KSHS 1400)
I need some timber for the new shelves and a total of 6 dollars, (around KSHS 510.
The technician to repair and upgrade the workplace shall be paid on a daily basis costing around 5 dollars for 2 days, (that is around 10 dollars, interpreting it to KSHS 900)
The remaining portion of around 19 dollars,( KSHS 1690) will be used to purchase more fresh produce i.e. Kale, bananas, tomatoes, watermelons, mangoes, oranges, spinach and onions. Part of that money shall be used to transport these produce from the farms to the Mini grocery.
By upgrading the grading the grocery, it means the produce shall not be rained on since the rains have started in our area. The customers shall be entitled to fresh produce while on my side i shall realize some improved profits from the business.
The upgrading shall attract more customers thus projected growth in profit is around 10% for the first 6 months.
