My name is Rachael Mupukuta. I am a married woman. I live in Siavonga town and I have three children.
I am a small scale farmer who grows vegetables for a living. I grow cabbages, rape and onions.
Siavonga is a beautiful town that is home to Lake Kariba. My farm is located near the lake.
I grow different types of vegetables - Spinach, Rape, Onion and Cabbages. I sell these vegetables to markets, restaurants and individuals in Siavonga town.
My vegetables are grown with water from Lake Kariba. I use poly pipes and a 5,000l water tank to irrigate my garden.
I plan to buy a 100m by 40mm by 2 rolls of poly pipe and a 10,000l water tank for use to water my vegetable garden.
My Cabbages are 2 months old and would be ready for harvest soon. The pipes and water tank would help to make the Cabbages to grow quickly. This will enable me to sell the Cabbages to a local restaurant that is close to my farm.
The health authorities in Siavonga town are allowing people to eat in restaurants. This has helped my business to do well, despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
