About Me

My name is Rio, I am the oldest of three. I have one brother and one sister. I come from rural area in Indonesia. Currently work for chemical company located outside my home province. I want to return to my village, become an entrepreneur and develop the economic of the local people.

My parents are retired teacher. My childhood is not really difficult. I passed primary, secondary and tertiary school without financial difficulty. Even though my parents income was not big, we were still considered economically fortunate in our society. Many people in my village work as rubber tree tapper. Tuition fee is cheap but the quality is not really good. Economy is not really developing on industrial level. Finding a good job and earning a good salary are difficult even though somebody might have high education level.

My Business

My brother and I manage a few parcels of land with a total area of 6.8 hectares (around 17 acres). Some portions I bought by myself and some portions are inherited from our parents. We plan to integrate farming and livestock. We already have a few goats. We have also planted some fruits and jabon trees, a kind of fast growing tree. I am interested in cultivating this tree since it grows straightly, and rapidly and can be harvested in a sustainable way since a new bud can grow after the main body of the tree being cut down.

Currently, we are focusing on increasing our forage production. We plan to utilize the space left between jabon trees by planting indigofera and mott grass. Then we will continue it to space between palm oil tree plantation. My parents have six hectares of palm oil tree plantation. The land is less productive since many palm oil trees are fruitless. I plan to diversify the vegetation within it with indigofera, mott grass and setaria grass. Palm oil trees are planted with a space of 9 m. It means there are still plenty space for forage

My primary income come from my salary as a chemical production operator. My current salary is IDR 6000000/month (around 446 USD a month). I can save 50% of my salary.

Loan Proposal

400 seedlings of jabon (400*@0.4 USD = 160 USD)

750 seedlings of indigofera (750*@0.15 USD = 112,5 USD)
indigofera is a legume used for livestock forage and silage

10 seedlings of mangrove (10*@0.8 USD = 8 USD)
The land is located at the brink of a river. I need to plant them to prevent erosion

Total delivery cost can be around 70-150 USD since they have to be transported between two Islands

The rest of the money I will use to buy goats and to build their shelter. One goat costs around 90 USD

    Hi lenders,
These are the latest updates of my project. Planting of indigofera seedlings have been started (pict 1 2 3 4 5 6). We will continue on increasing our forage production for several months to come. We will fill the space between the jabon trees with forage and then continue it to an palm oil tree plantation. A total area of 6.6 hectares (around 16 acres) will be planted. I may have to buy pick up car/van for my next loan to support my project. Thanks

    Dear lenders,
The goats shelter have been finished. The goats have also been bought. Currently, we use mott grass we planted between an orange plantation for their forage. As they multiply we plan to increase our forage production by planting mott grass and indigofera between the trees we had already planted. Thanks for your help.
