my name is gilbert.i was born in 1952 in siachitema village. i was born in a family of six and im the second born.my father was a small scale farmer and it is from farming that he was able to send me and my siblings to school.after completing my secondary school i moved from siachitema and went to settle in mochipapa research area.
iam married with four children.two females and two males.all my life i have been a farmer.i grow maize and vegetables as well as keeping chickens.i live with my wife and she helps me with my farming though its not on a large scale.
my main business is poultry.i keep broiler chickens.this business has helped me alot because people buy chicken a lot because there are the main meats in my area.so far i have only been able to keep about 100 chickens.when they are ready i sell them at the research station.im not able to meet the demand because at the research, there is a college for agriculture and they always need the chickens to feed the students.that is why im applying for this loan so that i can increase the number of chickens that i keep.this will help me to grow my business and be able to meet the demand as well as to raise profits.these profits will help me to boost my farming business.i will be able to buy enough seed for planting and fertiliser as well.
when i recieve the loan i wil use it to increase my production to 160 chickens.therefore il order sixty more chickens.the loan will be used to buy 60 chicks.a day old chick cost 65cents so for sixty it will cost$39 then il also buy chicken feed which is four bags.per bag costs $22.so for four bags it will cost$ 88.then il buy vaccines at $20
